QFC3 - The New Batley Variety Show
Quannum Fighting Challenge are proud to announce that QFC3 will take place on June 8 at the Frontier Nightclub in Batley, West Yorkshire. This event will also be held in association with the Cage Warriors Fighting Championships and both hope to make this latest installment of the QFC series, the biggest to date.
Headlining this event once again will be the former BodogFIGHT veteran and top UK Welterweight Matt "12 Gauge" Thorpe (11-6-0) as he takes on the Spanish all-rounder Manuel "Manu" Garcia (12-8-0) in a Welterweight division match-up. Picture of Hardy vs Garcia : Enter the Rough House 5 December 2007.

Standing at 6ft 4in/193cm tall Matt "12 Gauge" Thorpe is an imposing figure in the UK and European Welterweight scene. Rated as one of the UK's top Welterweight fighters, Thorpe holds wins over the likes of the likes of the current Cage Rage British Champion Che Mills; the German Shidokan star, Peter Angerer; and the Shooto Holland veteran, Raymon Jarman. However in recent months both Thorpe and his team have voice their frustration over the lack of domestic opposition willing to face him.
A six time veteran of Cage Warriors; Thorpe is best known for his epic Cage Warriors Welterweight Title fight against Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy back in 2005, which was a contender for fight of the year in Europe. A versatile fighter, Thorpe is a threat both on his feet and on the floor, with vastly underrated stand-up for a fighter with eight submission wins.
Thorpe will be looking for his fifth win in six fights at QFC3 and is coming off an impressive win against Mark O'Toole at Cage Warriors: Enter The Rough House 6, where he won by a Kimura in just 91 seconds. Thorpe will be looking to put on another impressive performance as he pushes his claim for a Title shot in one of Europe's top events and show once again why he is a serious threat in a stacked European Welterweight division.
However Thorpe will not be taking Manuel "Manu" Garcia lightly, as the well travelled Spanish fighter will be looking to break a three bout loss streak, which has seen him defeated by top opposition such as Fabricio Nascimento (20-5) the recent UFC signee Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy (19-6) and the BodogFight veteran Diego Gonzalez (10-3)
Despite those losses Garcia is a solid fighter who should not be underestimated as he has tested himself continuously against top opposition both in Europe and the USA. A two time veteran of the US based 'Absolute Fighting Championships' Garcia holds wins over the BJJ Black Belt Tony Torres and the ATT fighter Jake Hetch. It's also interesting to note that Garcia started his MMA career with a 6 fight win streak (which included 5 wins by submission)
Garcia is also a former Middleweight who has experience in stand-up and grappling competitions and will not be fazed by Thorpe's natural height advantage, whilst his wrestling will test the rangy Team Coliseum fighter, not only in the clinch but also on the cage floor, as the Spaniard will attempt to prey on Thorpe's past inconsistency in big fights.
In short, expect fireworks as neither man will be taking this fight lightly as they look to make their mark once again in the most exciting European weight class at QFC3 in Yorkshire.
Also confirmed for this event is a clash between the unbeaten Team Quannum prospect Martin Stapleton and the tough Welsh Lightweight Daniel "Denzil" Thomas. Whilst the CWFC Bantamweight World Title is also on the line, as defending Champion Paul "Metabolic" McVeigh returns to action after his appearance in Japan and looks to win his CWFC Title outright when he faces Steve "Taz" McCombe from the EFR Fight Team.
Due to success of the two previous QFC shows, this event has been forced to a bigger venue and with its unique early afternoon start, this event should kick off the party atmosphere at the Frontier Nightclub in style when it debuts at this brand new venue on Sunday June 8.
