QFC3 Cancelled
Warrior Promotions & Quannum Fighting Challenge are disappointed to announce that the upcoming show on June 8 at the Frontier Nightclub in Batley has had to be cancelled due to circumstances out of their control.
Following a series of repeated pull outs and injuries over the past 4 weeks, the CWFC matchmaking team have faced the gruelling task of replacing fights almost on a daily basis. The pull outs included the withdrawal of Manuel Garcia who was matched to fight Matt Thorpe. In an email sent to Ian Dean of CWFC, Garcia stated some concerns over facing Thorpe and simply pulled out, after receiving his paid for and confirmed flights from Barcelona.
Despite all of this the CWFC Matchmaking team finally established a 10 bout card from its target of 12 and believed they had rescued the show featuring by now only 2 remaining Quannum members. Waiting in the wings however were Yorkshire Police who by their actions this week have prevented the fight going ahead. Following a court hearing yesterday which was ruled in favour of Warrior Promotions, the Police raised further objections and as a result the event has been cancelled. As this is now the matter of an ongoing legal dispute, further details cannot be given at this time but will be made public once this dispute is settled.
In the early hours of this morning, having exhausted all other possibilities it was decided between Quannum & CWFC to cancel the show and to re-stage the confirmed card including the World Title Bout between Paul McVeigh & Steve McCombe in Nottingham on July 12.
Commenting on the decision, Tony McDonagh of Warrior Promotions said ‘From a purely financial perspective the show had already reported receipts in excess of £40,000 in ticket sales and was therefore already a success so to compensate we will be staging the scheduled bouts on July 12 and putting on additional seating to accommodate this'
‘This would have been the third instalment in the Quannum Fighting Challenge Series and the 34th show for CWFC' McDonagh stated and that ‘Warrior Promotions are committed to advancing the sport throughout the UK and abroad through its licensed partnering operations and staging small to medium sized regional events.
David Butlin of Quannum is equally devastated by the news and commented ‘It has been a particularly trying time for all of us and we have been dogged by simple bad luck. The decision to cancel the event was made jointly between all the partners involved and naturally any expenses already incurred by fighters will be re-imbursed'
Ticket Holders are already being offered the choice of a full refund or transfer of their ticket to ‘Enter The Rough House 7 on July 12 at Nottingham. Early responses have been positive with so far over 500 ticket holders agreeing to the transfer. Any ticket holders who experience any difficulties at all or are concerned in any way should contact either Quannum or CWFC directly.
QFC & CWFC would also like to extend their thanks and apologies to their suppliers, partners and the Venue itself who had all worked to make the show happen this far.
