Wallhead Striking Tom Haddock At 'Enter The Rough House 6'

Jim Wallhead returns to action on the back of a superb decision victory over the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Fabricio Nascimento at Cage Warriors: Enter The Rough House 7 in July. A team mate of Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy and Paul “Semtex” Daley, Wallhead trains with some top class fighter on a regular basis but is also regarded as one of the top unsigned European fighters on the circuit in his own right.

Since making his pro MMA debut back in April of 2005, Wallhead's aggressive grappling, ground and pound and stand-up skills, have seen the former British Judo Youth Games team member, defeat some top talents such as the Cage Rage Middleweight: John Phillips, and the UFC veterans Steve Lynch and Jason Tan.

However Wallhead has European wins under his belt too and one of his greatest accomplishments came in June 2006 when he travelled to Holland and won the 2h2h Under 83kg/183lbs "Road To Japan" Tournament on just 72 hours notice. Wallhead defeated both the Frenchman Camara Bouna and the Dutch striker Xander Nel in front of a hostile Dutch crowd to win the tournament and give is career a huge boost. The 24 year old, Father of One is no stranger to Titles, having won the House of Pain British title (against Paul Jenkins in December 2005) and the Cage Gladiators British Title by defeating Jason Tan by decision in 2006 in Liverpool.

However Wallhead's career has suffered several detours with losses at vital times against the likes of Peter Angerer and UFC veteran Dennis Siver (in 2006). On both occasions Wallhead dominated the action before falling victim to excellent counter attacking submissions. Although he rebounded in 2007 with four straight submission wins in MMA action and success in the Cage Kickboxing circuit; Wallhead's career took another another hit when he dropped a spilt decision to the American Top Team fighter Charles Blanchard at the inaugural Cage Warriors USA show in March of this year.

However the Warrior Promotions fighter has since picked up two solid wins over Tom Haddock and Fabricio Nascimento, and with 10 wins out of his last 12 bouts (in MMA and Kickboxing action) along with a top ten ranking in both the UK and Europe, Wallhead is looking for another win to push him onto the next level and even travelled to Las Vegas last month to fine tune his game at the world renowned Xtreme Couture training facility. With rumours of a big deal to come, Wallhead will be looking to show his pedigree when he faces the Doncaster based grappler at the Harvey Hadden Centre on September 27th and push his claim for a shot at the big time.

However Jason Ball sports an impressive 11-5-0 record and has a reputation for finishing fights early, with nine of his wins coming inside the first round. Hailing from Doncaster, Ball is a member of Team Ultimate Force alongside the likes of Ian Jones, Wayne “Mayhem” Murray and the recent UFC signee Neil “Old School” Wain. Although traditionally known as a grappler; Ball's height, range and increasing stand-up power has seen him earn 5 TKO wins, with 5 wins coming from his last 7 bouts.

Although Ball has mainly fought on the Yorkshire and North East circuit, he has racked-up a number of impressive wins against the likes of Mark Spencer, Paul Cooper and the talented Kam Atakuru. (The bout against Atakuru was famous for a spectacular comeback by Ball who weathered a furious opening salvo from Atakuru). See the fight here and read a report of the fight here

Ball has also tasted Title success by winning the Total Combat 18 Welterweight Tourney where he defeated Arran Barrow and Dave Hirst in the same night and is also the current Ultimate Force Welterweight Champion.

Jason Ball At Gorilla Fight 2

Ball also shares common opponents with Wallhead and holds a win over Peter Angerer (who defeated Wallhead in 2006) earlier this year at Gorilla Fight 2 in Germany and followed that stoppage victory with a devastating TKO over the North East star Leslee Ojugbana in May. With this momentum on his side, Ball will be looking to breakthrough to the upper echelons of the UK and European scene when he faces the Judo Black Belt on September 27th.

With a potential global audience looking on thanks to M-1's worldwide TV deals, will Wallhead take the final step up and break into the lucrative US and Japanese markets. Or will the punchy all-rounder from Doncaster scupper Wallhead's plans and make his name in this stacked international event.
