Paul 'Metabolic' McVeigh

Paul 'Metabolic' McVeigh is an exciting and dynamic Bantamweight fighter who has successfully fused his background in BJJ and submission wrestling with Muay Thai to give himself a dangerous and varied repertoire once he is inside the cage.

McVeigh has been involved in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts since 2002, and over the years has amassed an impressive professional record of 16-6-0 and has won numerous Titles and accolades. With wins over the likes of Neil McLeod (Twice), Phil Harris and the BJJ Black Belts; Anderson Pereira and Marcelo Costa, the Scottish based Irishman has shown he has the potential to go far and with 11 wins in his last 14 bouts, he has the form to prove it.

McVeigh is the reigning Cage Warriors World Bantamweight Champion and has won the belt outright with three successful defences since winning the Title back in 2004. He is also known as Europe's number 1 Bantamweight fighter and has also fought previously in Japan in the 2008 Cage Force Bantamweight Tournament.

As well as being an elite level competitor McVeigh is also one of the most respected coaches in the UK. Operating out of the Griphouse Gym in Glasgow, he has helped to produce numerous title holders in Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, MMA and Submission Grappling.

McVeigh's academic background reflects his interest in Mixed Martial Arts training and performance enhancement. After obtaining a BSci (Hons) in Sports Science, Physiology and Nutrition at the University of Glasgow, Paul went on to further enhance his knowledge by completing the Premier Personal Training and Sport Therapy Diploma.

Warrior Promotions intend to push McVeigh into the lucrative US market where he could become a big star due to his exciting style and likeable personality. After sitting out the first quarter of 2009, McVeigh returned to action in May when he defeated the Brazilian Marcelo Costa. McVeigh dominated the bout and won an Unanimous Decision to secure his spot as the premier 61.2kg / 135 lbs fighter in Europe.

McVeigh stepped back into the Cage in October at the inaugural Eurofight Extreme event in Scotland, where he took on the US based fighter Chris David in the Main Event. Despite finishing strongly; McVeigh lost a close Spilt Decision over 3 rounds. However the loss has only motivated the Scottish based fighter even more and in December he bounced back in style by defeating the highly touted Swedish Bantamweight and TV personality Musse Hasselvall at the inaugural Bushido Challenge event in Norwich, England

Paul McVeigh is currently free to fight in any promotion, and is looking for opportunities at both home and abroad, as he looks to break onto the world stage with style in 2010 and beyond.
