how do i do it? i need to format my hard drive

Right click on the picture of the drive you need to format, select 'format' from the drop down menu that appears, then follow the on-screen prompts. If you need to format a hard drive that contains your 'windows' (assuming you are using windows) directory, that is a bit more complicated, and outside the scope of this forum really.

I presume your using Windows XP.....?
If so, put the XP cd in the drive and then reboot the PC. The machine will boot off that CD and begin the installation process which will format the HD and then reinstall windows to original version.
Note you will have to update all your drivers from the net again which can be a ballache but it should be done automatically when connecting to the net.
To elaborate on THELAW's point, if you only have one HD then dont just do the format thing as he described as that could fck up your PC - Doing a normal format from 'My Computer' in Windows is only suitable if its a seconday drive where you store MP3s etc...Im assuming however that cos your asking how to format its unlikely your gonna have two hard drives! No offence! :) So just put the CD in and reboot as above
