Just a quick question,

Who would be regarded as some of the best 'no gi' grappling coaches?

Thinking of doing abit of travelling to improve a sh1t ground game.

This aint to cause offense, genuine opinions please.

Travelling? - you got a bus ticket or a car or a plane ticket with a hotel at the end?

Where do you see yourself going and where can you afford?

I could say Marcelhino and you could say - oh I cant afford NYC!

If money no object, go to Renzo's in NYC.

If you mean london, then London Shoot or Roger Gracie Academy.

to stay for a week or 2 in London would cost you as much as a cheap hostel and flight to New York to train with Renzo and the training is Mustard!!

Unless you know someone in London of course. Much more likely than knowing someone in New York!

Renzos is very expensive. But Renzos is very good and easily one of the best schools in the US.

If you can get a cheap flight to vegas, then there is cobra kai(Jeff glover, marc laimon, joe stevenson and sim go teach there). They also have one of the best competition teams in the US, and i think they arn't that expensive. Also there are alot of other good gyms there in vegas. Accommodation is generally pretty cheap aswell.

After reading the Fila results and the success of London shoot...mayb that is the place to go in the uk, as suggested previously on another post????

It depends if you're talking in percentages. RGA is the only club with a 100% competitor / team record, so logically... ^_^

If you're looking for pure no-gi though and want to train a lot, then London Shoot is probably your best bet in London. If you wanna just do once or twice a week, RGA has a couple of classes a week you could try. ^_-

*end shameless plug*

Take care,

Leicester shoot, Nathan Leverton is probably the best grappling coach I've met - hugely knowledgeable and a real attention to detail, probably a good reason why so many top fighters train with him (Hardy, Wallhead, Andre Winner etc). Also Leicester is a lot cheaper than london.

Leigh Remedios is also a very good instructor.

You're welcome to come and train at London Shoot. As others have kindly mentioned we generally do very well in no-gi events (see Fila qualifier, most medals at last ADCC UK etc) but also if you are looking to ever adapt to MMA we've got a pretty good track record in that department too.

Other clubs mentioned also good though- Levo at Liecester Shoot and RGA etc so it maybe comes down to your personal preference.

Curious Stalkachu, what is a "100% competitor / team record" and what does it mean?

Paul.

Curious Stalkachu, what is a "100% competitor / team record" and what does it mean?

He (jokingly, hence ^_^) is saying that he was the only RGA competitor at the trials and he got on the squad, so 100% of the people entering got on the squad. ;)
