ALSO,

Edgar subbed the guy in the first but the ref didn't see.

Good win edgar! Poor show from the smtc guy for not knowing the rules and doing a downward spike elbow on the BACK of edgar's head...... shocking. You are not allowed to strike the back of the head even in Muay Thai - NO EXCUSES for that.

James's striking was unbelievable.

Graham was looking mega sharp. unlucky to him.

Paul Dees got beaten ( GnP )

Thats all I can remember

hello, as some of you might know im stephanie darrens daughter im hear on behalf of darren he just wanted me to tell every one thanks for your concern but hes fine it was'nt a fractured skull hes going hospital today to find out more.his injury was caused by rabbit punches to the back of head not fighters fault but refs fault for not warning other fighter. refs need to be more trained and experienced as a ref. There is soo much going on in the news about trying to ban this sport as its "to rough" and we all trying are best to show this sport as a good thing then 4 fighters end up in hospital 3 by ambulance it don't look good fights should not have got that far and fighters need to be told what they can and cant do, if the break the rules they lose points thats how i thought all fights were run i just think refs need to be watched to and if they mess up get a new one.

well done to graham strong-arms - excellent win.
james doolan looked really good -congrat's
alan mccauley superb also - well done
edgar kudzhoyen arm-barred chris carmichael against the cage so only the audience saw him tap - spiking elbows to the back of the head are not cool. hope edgar makes a swift and full recovery.
well done to everyone.

Actually you can elbow to the back of the head in Muay Thai, this is often a confusion within the MT community itself.

Tony Myers is recognised as being one of the best MT judges and referees in the UK, if not Europe, and he recently mentioned the same subject on another forum.

I'll just quote the whole paragraph in which it was brought up:

There was an invaluable contribution from Duwao and Thailand, both great lads and very, very experienced fighters (and coaches) at the very highest level in Thailand. Interestingly, when I told Duwao that some people in England thought that kicking and kneeing to back, or elbowing the back of the head were fouls he was very surprised (they are really good points in MuayThai). When I told him I had also heard people say kicking the knee was a foul as well he was even more shocked. Unfortunately there is still this level of misunderstanding here. On a slightly different note, anyone in the Leeds area should take time to train with Duwao during his stay at Bad Company; he is a really personable lad, a very experienced and a very clever fighter and has a really positive coaching style.

However this was an MMA bout and not MT, so yes, no excuses.

stephanie the standard fo ref'ing on the day was excellent, the strikes which hurt darren came form mounted position when darren head was on the mat so cant really be rabbit punches as you suggest, timing of the stoppage for that one was fine.

think sam went to hospital to get his eye checked nothing more, the only serious concern was the spike elbows to edgar.the ref stopped the fight staright away when it landed and dq'd chris so was doing his job well again.

johns the best ref in scotland if he wasnt good i wouldnt let any our fighters compete on shows where he is the ref.

Stephanie, just a few things. First off, I appreciate your concern because Darren is your dad and your worried about him but I have issue with some of your comments.
Firstly, there were two rabbit punches when Darren sat up under Alan's mount and if you check the dvd you'll see I DID issue a warning to Alan. After that, Darren's head was back on the mat and punches landed on the face, side of head and forearms. Secondly, fighters DO know the rules, thats why there's a rules meeting at every single event and at the meeting, fighters were told that warnings would be issued, then points taken off.
Ive Reffed Sportfight Scotland 1,2 and 3. Gladiator 1 and Power of Scotland 2 so ive got some experience as a referee as well as 4years competing in MMA.
As for getting in a new ref every time one messes up, well thats ridiculous. If you got rid of a ref every time he made a mistake (of which im sure ive made plenty, its a learning curve) then we wouldnt have anyone refereeing shows because as far as I can see, just about every ref has at some point made an error.

Havin said all this, Ive known Darren for a few years now and he's a nice guy and a good fighter and I hope he's ok.

Cheers,

JohnJ

Doubt it unless Chris makes 65kg which mark fights at.

So Chris fails to make weight wrecking the 4 man tournament and then gets disqualified, not the greatest mma debut.

yeah mate - i'm talking pish, i didn't see nuffin' guv, same as the other ten or so people i spoke to on the day and since, who said he tapped - infact we made it all up together, we got together after the show and concocted a story about a guy getting armbarred when he didn't really.
we did it 'cause we're all scared of him in case we have to face him one day.
you wouldn't by any chance be one of the guys who was shouting "arse hole" and "shite bag" when edgar colapsed on the floor with a possible fractured skull, would you ?

i never seen chris tap or heard anything about it till after the show when some of our guys mentioned it, all a bit irrelevant now. look foward to seeing both guys fight again (other fights or each other)

First thing's first;

Let's pray Edgar's injury is not as serious as it sounds.

Finger's crossed he makes a quick recovery and is keen to return.

I never seen the fight, chris should be given the chance to air his side of things.

Edgar is fine he was out of hospital same night (as was darren) meat seen edgar today at bus station never spoke to him though. Edgars next fight is against alex sneddon at cage kombat i think, tough fight for both guys, alex good stand up, edgar better wrestler and ground.

Edgar pulled out of the fight with alex, he is still recovering from the incident in his last fight. Possible matchup on a future card in scotland.
