Hows it all going guys
I was there helping out from the weeks previous to the sunday - and I must say a big thanx to everyone who was involved - every last team and fighter was a tribute to the day!
One thing bothering me is the reaction to the Edgar Carmichael fight!
I to was there at the weigh in, and there was a mix up with the weigh in, where I was involved in letting the SMTC know that it was a 72k 4 man event!
Absolute credit to the Russian boy for vowing to fight Carmichael.
I was myself sat by the cage, and the supposed arm bar that Carmichael tapped from was not even in, and I cant believe there are people on this forum, from "Markjujitsu" and a few others sniping in a way on a public forum saying that the boy tapped.
Im also dissapointed at some others saying that Carmichael ruined the 4 man event, when some folk were clearly heard saying to his team it was an immpressive debut.
I think that there was a massive mix up and maybe a rush to the head, but I have met the boy Carmichael and have known John Craig (SMTC) for many years, and a more geniune boy and dedicated fighter you will never meet.
I myself was very dissapointed that the 4 manner never went ahead, as I think and believe that a lot of people in that hall were looking at the best fighter from the four on the day in Carmichael, and will like to see him on more of the shows in the near future.
The arm bar theory will be nulifide in due course, as the dvd is set for release and eradicates any thought that there was an early tap.
Great day made special by all, but sometimes leaves a bitter taste in the mouth when this kind of sniping starts, and as "Thaison" says on an earlier post, its over, and lets hope Edgar makes a swift recovery!
Until the next time, you all made the event a success!

were MMA results from this show released or published
FACT: Chris Carmichael blatantly broke the rules and severely endangered another fighter as a result
FACT:- He turned up overweight and ruined the tournament
FACT:- Most people I spoke to felt Edgar was winning the fight
Chris may be a good fighter but the evidence so far has not suggested that, in fact if anything it has suggested that he is unprofessional in not making weight and in blatantly and dangerously breaking the rules to avoid a takedown, resulting in his opponent leaving the arena in an ambulance after EMT's worked on him for 20 minutes in the ring.
There seems to be an exaggerated hype around the guy as I've even seen people boasting about this performance on football forums ffs. Actions like the ones described above are just what the press would love to get hold of to badmouth MMA. Plus to describe a novice MMA fighter as the best in the tournament when you have vastly experienced guys like Graham Turner & Edgar is riduculous.

Why did scotland first 4 man tournament not take place? Because Chris didnt make weight, whether this was a mix up with promoter or whether he just couldnt make it is irrelevent. Either he or the promoter were to blame.
The fight was good up until the dq mainly due to edgars slam which for me was the highlight of the show, great technique. How impressive can you be when you get dq fighting a significantly smaller opponent and hospitalising them.
myself was very dissapointed that the 4 manner never went ahead, as I think and believe that a lot of people in that hall were looking at the best fighter from the four on the day in Carmichael, and will like to see him on more of the shows in the near future.
Thats retarded carmichael has never had an mma fight, Graham turner and Martin Begley are legitamate champions and have the records to prove it, doesnt really matter as Chris isnt in their weight class.
Chris has the potential to be a great fighter but the hype surrounding him is ridiculous considering his record which as it stands is 0-1 with a DQ over a 69kg fighter.
In my opinion if the weights were comparable on the day we would have seen a much different fight.

i had martan begley as the favirote for the tourney, he has expierence after winning a 4 man tourney in ireland, was the most expierenced fighter there (must be close to 20 fights) and has fought at 77kg before
seen chris carmicheal kn steve primrose with a flying knee which was awesome, look foward to seeing him fight again.

I was at the same show Thaison - it really was quality!
"Thaison" I think from quite a few dinky members, you seem to come out of the ninjas with great respect and a respectful manner towards other fighters from other club's, and I find it a breath of fresh air, you may go snarling around the show pre-fight, but you really are a credit to the sport.
Maccavelli, I hope that this does not get held against Carmichael in the long run, as I do think he has enourmous potential to be a star in the sport the way some of the ninjas are!
Lets hope he is given the same oportunities the way some of your boys have, wether it be against them or not.
And maybe we will see him competing against the fighters he was meant to be fighting against in the 4 man tourney very soon!
As for Edgar winning the fight up 2 the dq, I would have to argue against it, "Meat" if there are guys boasting about this guys performances on football forums so what, why you bring that up on this forum and say his exagerated hype, is very unjust and very unfair. What has that got to do with carmichael?
As I said, the dvd will be coming out very soon, which I know for a fact proves no tap and Edgar not winning the fight, but all of your views and opinions are excellent, I mean thats what its all about, opinions, but I feel that some people like meat use it to have a dig, which is very sad
"The boy Carmicheal"? How old is he then?
Btw luv and hugs to the Ninjas, haven't seen you for ages!

i don't know what "sniping" you're talking about, as far as i can see people have simply expressed their legitimate and educated opinions with reguards to this fight.
i and many others thought there was a tap - i am reasonable enough to acknowledge the possibility that i could be wrong, but it looked like a tap to me. is there no possibility whatsoever that you could be wrong ?
i thought carmichael's stand-up looked good, in particular the flying knee - but i thought edgar's avoidance of it was superb, as was his crazy slam.
carmichael also looked notably bigger, which made edgar's performance even more impressive.
what kind of people would think that the guy who was bigger than everyone else and deliberately broke the rules was the best fighter on the day?

I dont have a problem with him just they way in which his fight ended. Time will tell if he can be successful in this sport i wish him the best, the flying knees were cool.
Lets hope he is given the same oportunities the way some of your boys have, wether it be against them or not.
We have a number of guys at around 73-77kgs who would be good match ups. I think Willie mcCracken mentioned taking another fight.
I also think that everything meat said is accurate although i think chris was winning the first rd but it was competitive.

Who are you again?
The comment Ayrshire MMA was directed at guys like you who are ridiculously promoting a guy who is an MMA novice as the best guy in Scotland, at no point did I blame Chris for that as I am sure he has no control over what hangers on say about him.

Another ridiculous thread Meat
I am not promoting Carmichael, whom obviously is a novice in the mma world as it was his first fight, what I did say from the 2 rounds he fought, I thought he looked the most impressive on the show - its only an opinion!
Take out the spike, which of course was the main point of the fight, and he dominated. I would have liked to have seen the 4 man event - but its history now - so lets hope we will see him against the likes of turner and Begley in the not to distant future.
As for hangers on, for gods sake son, this sport unfortunately attracts at times a bad element, with every fighter probably having silly shouts made to him from opponents fans.
I wish every club, from the Dinky's to SMTC all the luck for the future, and from what Im hearing from the SMTC - the boy Carmichael is running his own MMA club in Port Glasgow - so without guys like him and McViegh etc... the west of Scotland would not be having such events for the future - and allowing boys to build up confidence and maybe join clubs for the 1st time learning new skills and building friendships.
I dare say we have all made foul shots during fights, which the majority were not intended, I just think we should give the boy Carmichael the benefit of the doubt, as he looks a very impressive young fighter and a genuinne respectful nice guy when in comapany - exactly the same as Doolan and some of the dinky's
Good luck for the future guys!

Post isn't ridiculous at all, you clearly say above that Carmichael was the best fighter from the four on the day, that is ridiculous when you take into account that Graham Turner is the current TKO Scottish champ and a guy who has proven his ability time and time again in the ring and cage. The other two competitors are also tried and tested in the sport whereas Carmicheal isn't.
And as for you not promoting him on the forum, here's the definition of the word: -
to promote (third-person singular simple present promotes, present participle promoting, simple past promoted, past participle promoted)
(transitive) To raise someone to a more important, responsible or better paid job or rank
He promoted his chief clerk to a position on the board.
(transitive) To advocate or urge the adoption of something
They promoted the abolition of daylight saving time.
(transitive) To attempt to popularize or sell a product by advertising or publicity They promoted the new film with giant billboards.
You certainly do seem to be doing the bit in bold, don't you? Plus are you actually going to say who you are, you've now been asked 3 times and have failed to answer?

And I wont
A lot of people will know me, but as I dont see what the hell that matters I will go no further.
As for All the rest of the fighters on the show, Turner Begley included, all the best for the future guys, I hope to see you on a lot more of our Ayrshire shows, as you all made it a great success.
I came on in the 1st instance as I thought the boy Carmichael was getting a rough ride, Yeah he got (dq) but we all know people who have been Dq'd in the past.
And then there were folk actually saying that Carmichael got beaten, I thought as a nutreal I had to say what I saw! I have actually seen the highlights of all the fights, there were boys from our local gyms fighting down here, but I must say that doolan as ever looked impressive, and again, I will say that apart from the dq, Carmichael made a very impressive debut.
If that is promoting the boy then so be it, Guilty as sin, but like Doolan, Turner, Mcviegh etc... I am really looking foward to see this boy fighting again, its just the way it is - I think you need to take your sniping ways away meat, maybe the next show both of you are fighting at, you can be as aggressive to Carmichael and his boys the way you have been on this forum - and tell him you and 10 supposed other saw him tap and that his hype is well over abundant - silly isnt it, lets move on, I dont know what it is with you personaly, but trying to play a fighter down isnt a nice thing.

different weight classes
guys in his division are John Quinn, willie mccracken, jason simpson, alan mccauley and darren gunnel a few good match ups there.
Sniping? I've not said a single thing on this thread that is not true or could be construed as an insult to Chris Carmicheal. He did blatantly break the rules and got DQ'd as a result. He did turn up overweight and as a result the 4 man was cancelled. There have been people portraying him as the second coming which I am quite sure the guy himself would find embarrassing.
The statement about Edgar winning the fight up till that point has been confirmed to me by vastly experienced MMA guys who witnessed the fights as neutrals.
I'll continue to call trolling when I see it despite your advice otherwise.
