As Setanta are showing the Ruiz vs Jones PPV on Saturday. I decided to email them to ask if they will also consider showing the UFC.

I think if they get a few emails they might warm to the idea of showing the UFC in time for UFC 42 in April.

Their email addy is feedback@setanta.com

Here is my letter

Dear Sir,

I feel as if i must congratulate you on your decision to show the Jones Jr vs John Ruiz heavyweight title bout on saturday night/sunday morning. This has been a fight i have longed to see and i am also glad that someone has decided to challenge BskyB' s stronghold as the major PPV operator in the UK.

I for one shall be ordering this PPV and i hope it will not be the last (non-football) PPV that Setanta Sports shows in the UK, as there are a plethora of events that are being ignored in the UK and long for PPV exposure.

One of these events is the Ultimate Fighting Championship, also known as the UFC. Since UFC 38 in July, BskyB have shown no interest in other UFC PPV events and there is a growing market in the UK for this kind of combat sport. I know for a fact that Zuffa Inc. (The owners of the UFC) wish to show further UFC PPV's in the UK but are unable to find a PPV carrier for this event. So would you consider showing UFC PPV's in the future? I am sure that if you promote this event you would get a good buy rate as the sport of Ultimate fighting or Mixed Martial Arts as it is now known is getting bigger all the time, and has been featured in the ITV 1 documentary "Cage Combat" which debuted last night in the London Region.

If you wish to contract the UFC Directly you can at info@ufc.tv . Or you can contract the UFC by mail at

Ultimate Fighting Championship
P.O. Box 26959

Once again i thank for showing the Jones Jnr vs Ruiz PPV and hope you will consider my request. I look forward to hearing your response.

Yours Sincerely

Ian Dean

As far as i know Sky Didnt give an offical reason for dropping it. Maybe there were bad PPV buys, or SKY got frightened off by the anti-mma crowd.

Also i dont think Zuffa helped matters, a si remember Dana White talking on the underground and saying that Sky were not offering them enough money for them to show it on PPV. Its a shame all round really as both parties seem to be at fault.

I sent 3 emails off to Sky, Setanta and one directly to ufc.tv and suprise suprise no one has answered me yet. Which is a shame cos i actually put some enffort into explaining why getting the UFC would be a good idea.

I dont hold much hope for Sky showing UFC 43 eitehr as ive just checked my Sky EPG and next week sky are showing WWE trailers for their UK only PPV, which would last for a week, menaing Sky wont have teh space to show another sports based EPG. :( :curse:

That is why i cant watch WWE any more. Cos i get so angry thiking how can they show this, but not the UFC.

But a lot of the wrestling fans i know, dont like MMA/UFC cos they think its boring. Yet they moan all the time about how Triple H wins when his in ring talent is nowadays at zero .

So draw your own conclusions
