25 min after the fight paul and me returned to the ring looking for duncan Augusto was lying flat out in the ring still in his fight gear being seen by the doc, he was having trouble breathing due to pain in his ribs and said he felt like he had been ko'd by paul. At this time i also looked at the judges score card which where sitting on the desks whee the judges where positined and all judges gave paul the first round. Paul dominated the clinch, his wrestling was awesome as was his knees and elbows, paul also faired better landing well placed boxing in the stand up exchanges where as augusto was wild and starting to get desperate, check the video when its out and you will see how clearly paul win the first round. Also check Augusto sitting in the corner knackered while paul is standing discussing how he felt strong with me in his corner.

The fight was with outdoubt the best mma fight to have taken place in scotland, and when fighting at the level paul and augusto compete at 1 mistake usually proves to be fatal, i should know this better than most after my last fight. Augusto was a really cool guy, gave paul a shooto tshirt and is going to be hooking him up with some offers of fights abroad.

the gulf in class between paul mcveigh and the rest of fighters in scottish mma is massive, froto is a skillful, well respected, well travelled fighter whos been on big shows, paul is just 23 years old and in Augustos own words gave paul his hardest fight, even the harder than he one he lost in japan.

Where did paul learn to knee like that?
Cant wait to see him fight again in september.

Paul is awesome. I've had privates with paul and the ammount my game came on each day was completely unreal. He's not only a great fighter but an awesome coach as well. Another thing is the way that he always has time for the little fish like myself as well as the big fish, he would always come over for a roll during training and it's very appreciated. I would really like to see a McVeigh vs. Frota no. 2 I personally believe that the outcome would be different in no.2. though I'm bias lol cuz I'm a fan.

Congrats to John, well done mate. Also well done to Paul, even though he lost a tight one (oooeer!). Both top fights by all accounts.

Is there a tape of the night?

Anyway, good stuff Dinkys from the Dundee squad.

The other matches were quite enjoyable. A couple looked a little flailey but thats a cheek coming from me. I really enjoyed willie scotts fight it was a war and a half. Both guys were winners in my opinion in that battle and I also thought that jamie showed a lot of heart in his fight. The guy he fought looked a bit of a thai monster and I don't think I could have taken a quarter of those shots. John Nicolson was a monster in his fight also. He looked like a live action Vegeta from dragonball z!
All in all I really enjoyed the night and met a couple of new friends at the venue also!
