CAGED STEEL NEWS SHEET
DECEMBER 2007
First I would like to thank everyone for supporting Caged Steel, your valued loyalty and hopefully your continued support. It was a big step to open this gym in October but now after 3 months I think we can see the future here looks awesome! Jamie took a massive leap of faith, I am sure he is very happy with the way things are going, as am I. There are some very big plans and expectations for 2008, I hope you can stay with us to see these developments take place.
We have a new Freestyle Wrestling class starting with Ryan Lord, Ryan is ranked highly at Olympic Wrestling being ranked UK no.1 as a junior and now a very experienced wrestling coach. Ryan’s class will be Saturdays 11.00am – 12.30pm to begin with and starting on January 12th, this class may move to a weeknight and hopefully expand to twice weekly in time. This class is not to be missed by anyone interested in Wrestling and MMA, as you know MMA is built on styles like Thai Boxing, Wrestling and Jujitsu.
We also have a new Muay Thai class starting with Wayne Murray. Many of you will know Wayne as a professional MMA fighter but Wayne is the Commonwealth Muay Thai Champion. Wayne’s class will be Tuesdays 6.00pm – 7.30pm starting in February, this class is a must for anyone wanting to improve their striking game. We hope to extend to twice weekly in time.
From January we will be open Saturdays from 10am – 2pm. This will be an open session operating alonside the wrestling class. You can utilise this timeslot to train as you please either alone doing circuits, weights or bagwork or come with a training partner/s and train as you like. We will also be adding an open session on Friday night 6.00pm – 7.00pm before the BJJ and MMA classes. Please check the notice board for the new timetable in January.
Please support these new classes and coaches, without your support they cannot work!!!!
As always we are still looking for people interested in competing, mainly MMA although we should also be entering grappling events and maybe kickboxing. Don’t forget MMA has amateur, semipro and pro levels, you can work your way up through the levels. Of course we have to assess where you are best suited to start at, everyone is different. Please, if you have any interest in competing talk to Neil, we would like to see the “Caged Steel Fight Team” grow and develop over the next 12 months into one of the best teams in the UK.
One thing I have learned over the years running clubs and gyms is to listen! The gym is yours, you should have a say in what you would like to see happen here, please tell us if you have any ideas or suggestions regarding how things work in the gym, or anything you don’t like in the gym. I would like to think that anyone based at Caged Steel could and should have a voice and an opinion on things related to the gym. Please talk to us, we won’t know what you want and how to achieve it if you don’t tell us!
Christmas closing times are up on the notice board but just to recap we will be open up to and including Friday 21st December. We will be open on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th both for MMA and both from 7.30pm – 9.00pm. We will then re-open properly on Thursday January 3rd as usual. For anyone wanting any extra training during the Christmas period please check the forum on our website www.csfc.tv Spenna will no doubt be training and I will also post any extra training sessions I may be having.
I would like to thank all the coaches for their help and commitment to the gym, without them there could be no gym, also Jamie for his vision and belief in us, thanks guys!!!!
That’s it for now, I hope you all have a great Christmas & New Year and look forward to seeing you all in January ready to work off all those beers and puddings!!!!
