Closing the distance?

ok in MMA whate way would you use to close the distance? (to end in a clinch)

what do people find effective? what would they never try again etc

Just interested to see peoples thoughts on this.

2 routes:

Passive - wait until they create an opening for you (e.g slip a punch)
Active - throw something to force them to cover up (e.g flying knee)

one of the most effective techs i learnt was from a London Shoot seminarr, using you jab as a "paw" at their right hand.

i was just interested in others views and what techniques they use.

I've always found ducking / shooting under kicks very useful

jab, righthand, jab en the 4th you punch under his shoulder into a over under.

From the bell, jump in with a flying kick or punch..

In pancrase someone closed the distance on semmy schilt bydoing a forward headroll into a single.

randleman style.. Bait the leg kick and shoot in

vitor belfort syle. wait for a kick and blitz in with punches untill the fence/takedown.

two orthodox fighters - throw a long left hook and move in behind it leaving it slightly high and out longer than you would normally.
most people with wrestling instinct take the underhook taking out their right from hitting you.
You get a overhook and have to beware not to give away underhook on the other side.
