lol @ some of the checkboxes on the enrollment form

This question applies to all age categories: If no other competitor registers for your weight division, are you willing to fight up one weight category in order to get a match?

Yes, I came to fight!
No, Just give me the medal!

Sunday:
Blue belt heavy , Purple and Brown Adult. Battle of the brands team event and annual awards.

I assume this when blue belt super heavy and super super heavy will be? will be nice not to be last thing in the day and running late like normal ;) what aboute the blue belt absolute? (if there is one as I know its always packed, I thought it was a good idea last year selecting a certain number of competitiors for the absolute so at least some people get a change to do it rather than none at all if it was cancelled)

Whats the battle of the brands team event?

bjjeu

Blue Absolute should be on the Sunday and White Absolute should be on the Saturday, all depending on how many competitors.

We never run the Gracie Invitational late!! Finishes at 6:00 every year without fail!!

Instead of Academy team events this year, the teams will be represented by Kimono Brands.

Representing:

France: Vangaard
International Team: Manto
Uk Team: Black Eagle

Each team will comprise of 1 black belt, 2 purple belts and 2 blue belts
Fighters from any academy can apply (email: tournaments@bjj.eu.com (must be under 85kgs)) and they will be handpicked for the UK teams (Black belts can be from any country).
Fighters will be supplied Gi's to fight in by their Team Captains and Sponsors will provide teams with prizes.

The whole aim is to allow European Fightwear Brands (Especially the UK) to shine through a bit more. Manufactures in Europe use the same factories as the more popular brand of Kimono's and most of the time the European Kimono's are much cheaper. Its about trying to get everyone to support their local "corner shop" rather than paying through the nose for something else. So thats the idea behind it and I hope it works for the brands!

Almost like "Yes by all means go to the UFC, but also go and support Cage Warriors when you have the chance!"

It has been brought to our attention that academies would either like parents to register/pay separately and some other academies want to put all their registrations together and send it in one go. We have facilitated this by changing the online registration process to accommodate both academies and individual request.

Kids and Teens registration can be found at:
http://www.efnsports.com/enroll/gracie_invitational/index_juniors.html

Please select the kids and teens payment method upon submission of your online form. Add the quantity that you have registered and compete the payment. Payment can be made by any method. Just click the paypal button within the shopping cart and remember to place a note in the comments box about who you have registered.

Attached also are the waivers that each parent/guardian needs to sign on behalf of their child and produce on the day of the tournament with the competitor.

http://www.efnsports.com/enroll/gracie_invitational/childrens_waiver.pdf

Please can you provide proof of insurance for all competitors on the day. If you require insurance to compete you can contact the Grappling Arts Association at the www.grapplingartsassociation.org. They will provide you with insurance if you require. Also membership is free so join up if you get a moment as later this year the benefits will be moved across in order to arrange cheaper tournament fee and seminar rates for all members.

In order that we have a better turn out for the juniors we would prefer if the names of all participating junior was handed in minimum the week before the tournament.

A few of the finals for the kids tournaments will take place on the Disney stage in preparation for the Disney Resort BJJ Open which will be run by us later this year.

The schedule for the day is 10am start for competitors, so please be at the venue for around 9am on the Saturday 26th April. In charge of all Junior, Teens and Kids competitors that day will be 2 of the most experience teachers of kids in Europe, Prof. Felipe Souza and Prof. Braulio Estima. They will be available at the venue on the Saturday to guide you through the competition process.

All coaches and parents will have to purchase a Seni08 spectator ticket (£8.50) which allows you access into the Seni08 show for the day. These can be purchased by clicking on the link below:
http://www.efnsports.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=8&Itemid=26

Its best to have someone from the UK representing the UK, however none of the UK black belts had been available to fight. This is a great opportunity for Kevin. He gets to lead his country and also to fight black belts on a massive stage in front of everyone.

Kevin Webb and James Zikic have stepped up to the mark for this weekend and have lead by example. Quality!!

bjjeu
22-04-2008, 12:24 PM
To all coaches.. We will be cutting the white absolute to 1 person per academy, so please choose your top fighter to go forward.

bjjeu
22-04-2008, 03:14 PM
TAKE NO SHIT RULE!! (All coaches and competitors must read)
This year especially there will be a no tolerance policy. Coaches, parents and guardians, have to show some restraint when their student/son/daughter are fighting. We are here to set an example to the young in this world and swearing, violence or berating the officials will only lead their student/son/daughter to be disqualified and for them to be escorted from the venue.

If this happens, the power is in the refs hands on that mat to disqualify that competitor or remove the coach. If the attitude arises through out the whole day, all their points will be removed or their whole team will be disqualified from the competition.

So no running on the mat, coaching matside, swearing at the public, staff, refs or other coaches, throwing items at individuals etc.

Theres is a guy that I train with and he has cut too much weight and will likely be coming inunder the lower limit of the catorgory he is in. He is wooried that he won't be allowed to compete because he has come in too light.

I'm assuming the 11:30am slot should be the White belt heavies (not blues) as the blues are later on?

got back from the seni. The comp was huge this year, saw alot of very good fights. It seemed to be pretty well organised too.

The only comment i would make is that they need to sort out some decent seating for the spectators, for a short git like myself it was very hard to get a decent view of the action.

LOL we were all thinking the same thing. I had a blast despite my match not quite going to plan! Thanks to the organisers.

it seemed a bit unfair then that people aren't allowed to film their own matches. If the organisers (I dont know whether that is down to the SENI or the EFN) want those rules then they should put an alternative in place

After experiencing the tourney on Saturday i do not Envy Jude and co at all !!!

*Best moment was watching a guy from Carlson Gracie coach his guy who was fighting one of my friends on a megaphone and trying to be discreet about it.

I just wanted to say thanks to Efn and in particular Jude and J Sho for the incredible amount of hard work they put in to make this whole thing happen. I had a fantastic day and I have really felt my game improve thanks to the experience I have gained in Efn events. I have seen my son Luke likewise benefit. I must be a bloody nuisance at times with my neverending requests which are always handled with professionalism and good grace. Thanks Guys, you are doing a LOT for the sport.

Question:

At Seni 08 on Saturday I saw a BJJ guy in a white gi, he was white, was around 5'10 and had dark brown hair, medium/long length. He was hanging around the BJJ mats and seemed to be quite popular amongst the other BJJ folk.

Im certain that i have seen him before somewhere but can't think where.....Does anyone have any idea who he could have been?

Got my ankle wrenched and my shoulder dislocated. It was great! Now I see Jiu Jitsu isnt an easy game I am going to start training properly now, shut my mouth and get my head down! :D Osu!!!

I would like to second Andy's respects to the organisers. Amazing job done when I stood back at looked at the scale of the job at hand. Great achievement!

I had an awesome time! With both the Seni and the Gracie Invitational! :-)

Big thanks to Jude, JSho, and all the crew for putting on such an amazing competition!

And thanks to everyone who took the time to say goodbye. You guys have a great grappling circuit here in the UK, I’ll miss it!

Cheers, Maryanne.
