I was meant to be doing this, but got a phone call saying I was the only entrant in my catergories :( . I was offered the mens veterans open weight & the cadets as alternatives, so didn't bother. He didn't mention the women in the next weight up from mine  . Never mind :p
Nice write up & pics.

Sorry to hear that Diane, Jim is one of the nicess guys you can meet and works mad hours with two jobs and then finds time to operate the UMA, thought I was busy!
Next comp is a no gi event on May 18th, get back in touch with Jim and get him to double check the women's categories :D

Hi Diane.
Your refund is on its way to you, sorry we couldn't get you sorted, but I did offer you the Cadet Female U65kg 16 to 19 years old Category as there were two Female Fighters in it for that one Category that was suitable for you to get you a couple of fights etc, but I could not fit you in else where as explained in our telephone conversation, and also because I did not feel it was not right to enter you in any of the Junior Girls up to 15 years of age Categories, as they were the only ones left etc, even the girls O55kg, as it would not really be advisable for obvious reasons etc.
Hence, I suggested the male masters or male vets to get you your second Category fights etc, as there were no heavyweights in either of those Categories, or refund the cost of the second Category Fee to you etc, and as explained, as there were no other women in any other categories in either the Cadet or Adult sections for females there was nothing I could do further etc.
Once again, I do apologise we weren’t able to support you fully, and hopefully we can get you some fights in May, whether or not we can get you into two Categories is again, another issue, lets see what happens, hopefully we can, but again that’s not up to the UMA.
Its a pity that we do not get more women like yourself to take part, we are trying to do our part for the Juniors and Females on the newaza, groundfighting and grappling scene in the UK etc, I suppose its like everything else, it takes time and hard work etc, so we'll keep trying to do our best to promote and push our own unique Championships.
Hope we see you in May.
Kind Regards.
Jim

No worries, I wasn't having a dig at you. Just airing my frustrations at the lack of entrants for the catergories I was after entering. My gi work isn't up to much yet anyway ;) . Will definately be there for the future shows though :) . looking forward to it, especially the no gi ones.
All the best,

because you had to fight in red/blue belt provided for scoring purposes, so no one wears their own between bouts

They don't have any belts on because when the are competing they have to wear either a Red or Blue belt as so to identify each Fighter on the Score Board etc, and when you've had a quite a few fights like those guys have had, and then resting up etc, the last thing you want is a belt round you as it is in reality a pain and uncomfortable anyway, and you can cool down and breathe better without the belt on, especially after fighting etc.

A samurai cleans there abode prior to a battle and returns to their dwelling in immaculate condition. He cleans it prior to the event in case he doesn't return and returns immaculate to bring assurance to his people. These guys obviously aren't samurai.
Tiredness? Pain? UNCOFORTABLE!!!!! Breathe better? last time i checked my lungs were in the chest area not around my kench! give me a break. Carry your own belt in your kit bag and wear it for the medal presentation. Scruffy twats
