How long do you think it'll be before i could enter a competition?

I have been training for years with weights and done a bit of gymnastics and karate. I want to start competing in MMA but there are no gyms close by and i'm not sure how to get into it.

Any help would be welcome.:)

I think it is dependant on the person mate. Everyone is different. I think you need to join a club, tell them of your goals and see how you get on. There are a lot of decent clubs around your area:)

I agree with BB, however I would say around 6 months to get up to speed on submissions, transitions and escapes is a fair ammount of time, espcially with no previous experience.

Team Fulinkazan is based your way, Kings Gym, I am sure Spenna or Scraps or someone will post thier details for you

Thanks for the advice guys. Paul, i will PM you when i get sorted. Me and a few friends have been doing bits ourselves but i was looking for somehere professional for us to train when i came across this forum.

My mate used to train with Jeremy Bailey, a professional fighter, when he was down south.

I would say 3 months for BJJ comps with set levels, 6 months kickboxing comps, 9 months ammature MMA in a cage...

I had my first MMA fight after 6 months, but feel it was probably a bit early...

I didn't see him on cagefighter, i have never seen him fight actually but i hear he has partnered up with a fighter called Paul Daley and a promoter from down south and started up a gym. Atleast he is putting his money back into the sport.

Sorry, but did you say Jeremy Baily is a parter with Paul Daley in a gym down south???? Is this true, there's not been anything said on the forum before!

interested to know if that's true - would seem a strange tie up

Big Fan of Daley as most are but never have understood why CR kept featuring Baily - I still laugh when I think of that promo video of him and the bad arse

Because Bailey sold boat loads of tickets... he could sell 500+ tickets, which is a promoters dream. The truth is that for a promoter, ticket sales like that make it worth while putting a fighter on.

I've spoken with Bailey a few times and despite his 'in cage persona' he is actually a pretty nice bloke

As far as i know it is true. My mate says he opened up the gym in Reading just before he moved up to Leeds. He would of been training there if he had still lived down south.

Doesn't seem that strange when he was saying he is now a part of the FX3 show at the weekend. maybe he had a load of money he didnt know what to do with.
