Hi,
I tend to use the straight leg version of the deadlift in my workout. An example of this can be found in the link below:
http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/GluteusMaximus/BBStrBackStiffLegDeadlift.html
I tend to use a narrow grip when performing this technique, whereby my hands are only about 3 inches apart on the bar. With most deadlifts it seems to be recommended that the hands are shoulder width/slightly beyond shoulder width apart (as shown in the link).
Does using a narrower grip make much of a difference to the benefits I would gain from the deadlift (i.e. lower back/hamstring strength) in comparison to a normal wide grip? I would change my grip distance if this were the case.
Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated,
Craig.
