help needed

I was thinking about building a Shed made out of blocks in the garden which is a council owned property, i was wondering if you would need planning permission to build this? it will be 3m X 3m....


can anybody help me please?

normally you don't need any planning permission to build a shed - blocks or not. The only stipulation is that it must not exceed the height of a one storey building..so i reckon anything under 8ft high is acceptable...

However, council owned property usually mens you cant do anything to the outside of the house/building or in the grounds...sometimes even when you own the flat. Best bet is to ask a council bod on the sly

Best ring the council mate, they can be funny twats. Should be ok with the dimensions, but you also have to be careful of any regulations stipulating how far away from boundary walls or neighbouring property the building has to be. Enquire about what covenants are on the title deeds also as they may have an impact on what you can and cant do.

Can't see a major problem tho. Always best to find out first. Last thing you want to do is have some jobsworth from the council come tell you you're contravening something and then have to pay those bastards to come and rip it down!!!

Councils usually are not to bad about garden sheds etc, as long as they are not classed as a permenant fixture, if you are building with blocks, then they are more likely to say it's permanant and wont allow it, if you can prove that you will be able to take it down if you leave it should be ok, but you do tend to have to ask for permission in writing first.

hi.ive just build a shed and a massave dog pen in my garden.the councell said it was fine aslong as it wasnt over 6ft high.hope this helps.
