Sorry for the newbie question!!!

Been in Thailand a month now and loving the training here, I have been doing 2-4 hours a day training Muay Thai and about 60 - 90 minutes cardio and weights, so it is adding up to nearly 6 hours some days!!!

Anyway, was wondering what kind of suppliments I could take to help with keeping my energy levels and strength levels up. My biggest problem is waking up in the morning and hardly being able to move my legs or arms.

Once I get started obviously you kinda forget about it, but it would be good to feel a bit more energetic throughout training =)

I know of stuff like Creatine, Whey Protein and No-Xpode, but wondering which I should use, etc. Thanks in advance and hope everyone back in England is doing well :)

Thai redbull with the illegal stimulant ingrediant that is meant to be similar to speed?

Thing is soon enough you won't be able to get out of bed without it.

No-Xplode great stuff and gives a good pep along wtih the strength gains for the weights work, but you will be pumped, hot and sweaty. I don't think it would go down well with Thai training in the Thai climate....Actually that redbull should probably be taken with lots of water.

These will help overcome tiredness, but if it's muscular micro tears you are going to need enough of protein to rebuild which is where whey comes in.

Possbily less training and more sleep?

Plenty of carbs.

pfffft, I'm in Thailand man... all I eat is rice and noodles... ;) (in answer to carbs)

More sleep would probably be a good idea... I have seen red bull EVERYWHERE here, not actually tried it... didn't realise it was different than the UK. I tend to keep away from that stuff though as i only drink water and milk, nothing else like fizzy stuff, maybe give it ago before training one day during the week!

I like the super strength tiger balm stuff they have over here... tiger balm gentley sooths, this stuff just fecking burns, lol.

Not really...

I am training and fighting down here until next June, so about 14 months, but I am back in the UK as of December to fight that Ricky kid.

Nah, I love the training here, the guy I train under has had 390 fights, how fucking crazy is that!?!?!?

Money I am doing a few online projects with Comet :)

Id say the main thing you need is more calories and then go with supplements on top of that and you'd be surprised how much carbs you should actually be eating to sustain that sort of training. I'd say around 8-10 g/ kg body weight/ day, so assuming you're 70 kg that's 560-700 g carbs/ day. So that's around 2-2.5 kg of cooked rice (weighed after cooking). Are you eating that much??

The other thing you could consider is are you replacing enough water and electrolytes lost due to sweating (that i'm assuming will be at a high rate).

I'd recommend a carb/ protein shake (in the region of 40-50 g carbs/ 10-15 g protein) before and after each training session and drinking sports drinks (containing sodium) during training. All this can be done on very tight budget.

Once you've sorted a good traiing diet out first then look at what you can do on top of that.

And give yourself some rest days.

feel much better today, did 15 minutes stretching after training... My current schedule (I'm doing a month of hardcore training)

6am - running
7am - 9am Muay Thai
1pm - 2pm weights (Mon, Wed, Fri)
5pm - 7pm Muay Thai
7pm - 7:15pm stretching

I know it is ALOT, but it's just for a month to get into proper shape as I'm fighting in 6-8 weeks. 6pm - 7pm is an hour straight of pads and you wanna kill yourself! :D

Energy levels perfect now and even the sore legs next day have gone... :) Thanks for all the advice, there was me thinking suppliments and all I needed was more noodles and sleep :D

Training's picked up actually because 4 Thai's where I train are fighting tonight and in 3 weeks time (2 tonight, 2 then) and they are all clinch sparring. I find it really odd that they don't spar with each other... however they are more than game to kick a 'Ferrangs ass' who challenges them to a spar...

I love watching the huge guys go up to a Thai and ask him to spar thinking he'll punch him a few times and scare him... always ends up with the bigger guy limping out :D

Forgot to mention stretching... I got a PM from someone suggesting a book by Thomas Kurz, I actually already had it with me, so took the time to read it and found it really helpful.

Dynamic before class and Static (Isometric and relaxed) after.

Decided to stay out here now... I've just been offered a job which allows me to train and travel as much as I like.

I'll be back in December for XMAS and fight, but then in January back out here to live.

I love it out here, the people, the training, the food and the general relaxing life style the Thai's live.

Wow, that's brilliant! I bet it's a lot better than living in the UK (far from relaxing!). Are you training MMA out there too? I think if I didn't have job commitments here I'd be so over there.

lol, love you too Wagon xxxxx

Wagon / Luke, If you can deffinetly come out here... I reckon you'd be supprised how easy it is to live off £100 - £200 a month here. Accomedation is under £50.00 and training under £50.00, then whatever you need for food.

Obviously the expensive thing is flights, but if it is something you really want to do then start saving up £50.00 a month and in two years you'll have enough to come out here and live for three months.

Good luck to the both of you :)
