Quick tip - Dont go with royal sun alliance.
I was paying £ 800 on a mr2, it got pinched and written off. Even though it was valued at £2,000They paid me £600 and said I still owed just over £600 contract so ended up paying for fuck all as couldnt afford a car. the £ 600 I got paid a loan off.
When I got a renewal for my new car - a golf gttdi it was £ 1,500
LOL...fucking idiots. Did a search on comparethemarket.com and now looking at around £ 6-800. Two of the best being admiral and tesco.
Miles better if you shop around a bit.

i have been using direct line since i was 17 (25 now) and they seem ok and i have had 2 crashes. i pay them £60 pm for my astra 1.6 (06 reg) and £65 pm for my focus ghia 2.0 zetec, both on 3rd party fire and theft as they are all i think anybody needs to be insured on, if you crash and its you fault pay for you car to get fixed if you do somebody elses in its all covered.

Tesco are an RBS (Direct Line) company, along with Churchill, Privilege and many other insurers. Norwich Union are part of the Aviva group.

Try aplan insurance, they saved me a load last two years, tell them your best price and they should be able to beat it. They are a broker so no sitting in call centre que's to get things changed just call them and they do it all for you. Number is 01905 612 961 or look on aplan.co.uk also pretty sharp when it comes to home insurance also.
Alternative for anything unusual is swinton specialist, my mrs has just used them for her slightly modified car.

i use More Than and im paying £700 fully comp on a (03) 1.6 renault megane and im 20 and have an ongoing claim with a copper :D  damn cops...advance driver my arse
never trust a copper when they say its there fault and not to make a claim against them...soon backfired when i had a letter through the door saying he had chest injuries, whiplash...the works

What's wrong with your ford ka?
This is weird - I wrote off my 1.6 focus the other day, and have bought a 1.3 corolla on an r plate to keep me going until i get something properly sorted out - my insurers (zurich) said they needed an additional premium of £67 because it was a higher insurance group!
I mean, it's older, cheaper, and slower, and you want more money? I'd like to say 'fuck off' but they have your balls in a vice because you can't cancel the policy without incurring massive fees that dwarf the additional premium.
Fuckwits... if I didn't have to I wouldn't pay for insurance on a car like that, they just swindle you to death...

I can sell you the front half of a ford focus if you can find a suitable rear end to weld it to?

Insurance is a rip off game.
I just got a nice skyline and got some qoutes before buying.
First went to moneysupermarket, compared the general prices etc. First lot of qoutes ranged from 600-2k!
Went back on the next day, put the same details in for re-qoute as couldnt remember the qoute ref, this tiem ranged from 450-1500!?
So, thought Id try for the 450 price as was picking car up that day, went back online to get a qoute from Norwich union via AA site as this was the 450 qoute, this time it came in at 325!
Thats fully comp for 2 drivers (both fully comp!), no claims protected and car valued at 5k!
Not bad for a skyline. Bit confused as to why the same company would lower their prices by nearly 50% in 3 days... but not complaining!
