My work has banned listening to MP3's or non work net usage recently.
I now have to amuse myself by plotting peoples demise.
What wank stuff has your work banned?

I worked from home for years.
Biggest problem I had is that I ended up working all the time. I.e. rather than 9-5 work. It was like 10-12 work 12-2 fart about 3-6 work 6-8 simpsons 8-10 work etc etc
Although I didn't work a Friday for 3 years lol

Here we go....
Pens, paper, MP3 players, drinks other than water, 'open' cups, newspapers, magazines, books (basically any sort of reading material that isnt deemed 'work related'), phones and possibly a few more I've missed.
Although saying that, all the above is banned but only I noticed that someone was walking round wearing a Confederate Flag on his top...
And this is while we're at our desks, you can do all the above when away from it on breaks/lunch.

recently we've been banned from smoking at the front of the building, not that i smoke so im not really bothered. been banned from the internet completely, even work related, so why even have it? had milk usage limited, again i didnt use that much but i still think its petty. a lad got done yesterday for wearing shorts even though all the girls had shorts and skirts on. its bollocks really, but luckily hardly any of it affects me

Since moving to a new building we have been asked not to walk up and down the stairs carrying liquids unless it's in a closed container.....to avoid spillages which people might slip on. Fair enough really but why did no-one think about it before?
my work has banned kettles (health and safety) and metal paper clips. In case im that much of a muppet to embed in my hand. Oh and A3 Paper, We have to save the trees.

I'm always amused when people in offices go on about cutting paper usage to save rain forests. Unless I'm very much mistaken, paper is made from commercially planted and managed softwood forests; while most of the woods in rainforests are from hardwood trees which take many decades to grow to maturity

Jesus ! I am genuinely amazed at what stuff employers have banned. Why ? I can possibly understand some of the IT stuff from a security point of view but bloody hell the stuff that been banned is daft. Why are staff not judged simply on their output/results. i.e. if you can achieve the required results/targets/performance etc whilst surfing the net, listening to MP3s, and watching UFC then more power to you. In fact I would be targeting such a person for promotion to a more challenging job.

Er... what's up with that?
We dont have a dress code where I work... he came in with it on and I dont mean a patch or a small picture, the flag was the top. A top with the confederate flag on.
I think he told the supervisor that it was a biker thing... dont think he ended up taking it off. It's amazing that no-one noticed it till I said something, only then did people start saying "that's not right" blah blah... more like they were too dumb to know what it was.

When i worked for the Citizens Advice Bureau they banned people using their own mugs and limited Tea and Coffee making cos of heath and safety. It nearly caused the older members of the Bureau to riot
We were also banned from doing anything to the PC's if they broke or wouldn't work (had to phone the IT guy for everything. Not phone Mobiles, we weren't allowed to change light bulbs or stand on a chair or table to reach anything. We also couldn't see people after midday, even though the youth section i worked for had a full day drop in service.

oh yeah, as mentioned, im not allowed to change a light bulb either, have to get someone in to do it, despite being tall enough to reach without standing on anything. i was genuinely confused when they told me this, then when i asked forit to be changed, got told it would be about a month before he came

Why dont someone just do a site specfic Risk Assessment? So much easier and can save a lot of time and money in the end, believe me I know, at the last count (2 weeks ago) we had 70 seperate RA's!!!!
