Does anyone, generally speaking, know where these can be acquired?
They don't have to be the size of the one in the Kaitlin Young training video but I have a sledgehammer out in the shed and nothing to hit with it.

A T S fit big tyres on the trucks so i got two old tyres off the manager, the weight of the tyres are fine for flipping and hitting.

I just use a car tyre. They don't last as long, but at least you can keep it somewhere a bit more easily than having a whacking great tractor tyre lying around.

As above though, just pop down to a tyre fitters and they should be more than happy to let you have one as they have to pay to ge rid of them usually.

I think that glass is made from sand so .... if you take all the windows out of your house, smash them to bits and put them in a carrier bag you've got practically the same thing.

Bit scratchy tho - good luck.

If there is a farm near by, I suggest you ask there first

What about a haulage company/depot. They might have some big lorry tyres kicking around.

BEFORE YOU GO OUT - THINK ABOUT HOW TO GET IT HOME!

I find it interesting to note that the same people to bite when they're given grief are among the first to dish it out. That is all...

Do Tractor tyres actually ever wear out? I don't recall ever seeing a farm tractor with a balding tyre

Yes or this thread would be redundant and we wouldn't be able to pick old ones up from tyre suppliers :D

To get tyres call a local waste management company... they will probably have some or tell you where you can get some

not really as they are not used on roads or tarmac enough, but the reason for the change is down to age, they perish, go porus(sp) and just waste away by being damp and in shitty conditions all the time, but they dont tend to wear like car tyres as they are made from different compound, not used on tarmac hardly, and they have huge amounts of tread, to get through mud and stuff, and to wear that much rubber would take a fair while;)

Try a tyre place that deals with haulage.
I`ve got a 400k tyre for free from them.
If ur after something to drag then get a
forklift tyre .They weigh about 80k but
they are very hard to pull, also good to
hit as they dont bounce around.

I know this thread is a bit old but I picked up two from a tip, sorry waste disposal centre - one's a tractor tyre well jcb tyre apparently and the other's a lorry tyre, they were happy to get rid of em.

Also - they do wear out eventually - its the weather and general garden enviroment that gets to them more then the sledge hammering. My first one lasted less than a year - that went due to all the barrel stuff I did with it, 10 years on and the barrels are still in great condition though :)
