By which I definitely do not mean training partners as enough reasons have been given in the past for this not to happen even if, on paper, it would make for a good/explosive/whatever match-up.

What I do mean though is a situation arising similar to that of Josh Barnett and Jeff Monson. Some of the details are featured in the link below..

I suppose my question is, would you fight a 'friend' as opposed to a 'training partner' in the interests of your MMA career?

Don't know... depends if I beat them up when I spar or not... if they knack me all the time I probably wouldn't be keen.

I probably would, I'm not the kind of person that needs to hate my opponent anyway, and presumably if they took the fight they'd know it was just business.

Only if you paid me enough. Most fighters fight to further their career and I think it seems a bit callous to do so at the expense of a mates

Now that also brings up the question of who you consider a friend - someone who I get on well with but is not a mate is fair game

Its a sport at the end of the day. I'd fight my brother if it didnt mean getting embarassingly battered in front of a bigger crowd than just the usual class.
