Body traingle or not?

I dont like it super much. I treat backmount like reverse guard, and in guard my hips go crazy to control and go for subs.. And if i put some one in a bodylock in guard, i have more control but limit my self.
Same thing for back mount..

Depends on the situation... depends on what sort of upper body control I've got. I like to switch between all the back controls, don't really have a favourite...

Both hooks,
Single hook, ankles crossed behind the back,
Triangle around one leg,
Grapevine on one leg,
Body triangle,
Hooks behind knees,
One hook in, one hook behind the knee,
One hook in, one foot on the hip,
One foot on the hip, one hook behind the knee,
One leg across their stomach, other foot on the hip or behind the knee (like an open body triangle).

I can't think of any more right now.

It has its uses... seems a lot harder to get away or reverse it when you have it locked in, and for me I feel I can then forget about it and concentrate on the choke, I wouldn't ever go for any other subs from the back anyway. If he's facing the floor I wouldn't bother, it's easier to flatten them out with the hooks, and I don't have to worry about him turning because I'd end up back in mount then anyway - but if he's facing the ceiling I'd probably look for the body triangle.

I think body triangle is very limiting. It works if your not great with your hooks but I agree that you can do much more when you open up

also for mma, with the gloves i like to flatten them out, face down.. and smash untill i see the short choke. Dont like rnc for mma.

in grappling, i like normal hooks, with armhooks/seatbelt.. ANd i love going for traingled/armbars, smother chokes from back..

Also i find that skinny dudes can suck there stomach in and turn into when you have traingle backcontrol

I agree it could be limiting but it depends what you want to do - for just keeping yourself glued to their back so you can work on the choke it's great, but I'll agree it doesn't give you as many options as with the hooks e.g. trapping an arm - but it depends on whether you actually need to do that or not.
