Nope!! No over 99kg!!
Ken (BlueWave MMA) was the only entrant as I had tonsillitis so wasn't taking part. He ended up taking part in the -100Kg and getting 2nd place. He fell for some fantastic takedowns from the winner in the final.

Nice one! Very powerfull, what's his technical jits like though since he seemed very wrestling orientated? I spent a chunk of the ride home trying to work out how I would have done against him if I'd competed...I suspect I would've jumped guard sharpish!
We got those matches on vid as well and I'll do a highlight when I gather them all together.
Hope you guys had as much fun as we did - great day overall.

He's not been training very long. Maybe 3 months? He's only ever done two lessons of judo too, and recently won the Welsh judo kyu something or other (all I know is he threw brown belts around no problem).
His strength, base and cardio are all phenomenal.
Once he has technical ability as well... I think I'll stop rolling with him!!

Thank you Jude for another superbly run event. I made a point of not bothering you this time so hopefully it wasn't too stressful for you. Well done to my son Luke who came second in the advanced absolute at only 18, but then spoilt the day a bit by throwing his teddys for a big mac meal on the way home without a thought for the fact that I'd been driving all day. Well done to London Shoot, it was the first time I've seen up close what an impressive unit they are.

It was a great event with some really top class grappling being shown from the competitors. Jude and his team have got the running down to a T and it was the best organised comp I've been to. Nice to see a lot of familiar faces but missed Carlsons. Where were the 'Oss's'?
Stand outs of the day for me were Pedro Bessa (as always), Michael Russell whos jj really is fantastic and our own Jon Reeve who's really coming along in his submission game.
Thanks for the compliment Andy, got to watch bits of your matches and look forward to seeing you winning in Finland.
I was really happy with the performance from all the guys from London Shoot, all of them left it on the mat. So congrats to our medalists:
Jon Reeve Gold -77
James Zikic Gold -88
Karl Lucket Gold -61
Halsho Drey Gold -73
Samson Akanbi Silver -91
Paul Hougoughi Silver -73
Fitzroy Peters Bronze -66
Tito Djalo Bronze -85
Also well done to the rest of the team Sean, Ray, Kathy, Suley, Ollie, Paul and Alberto.

London Shoot did look really strong, you obviously have an awesome team!
How long has Jon Reeve been training? Tapping Michael Russell is an awesome achievement.

Well done to all who took part.

Jon beat him at a previous comp as well in Reading, KO'd him with a takedown iirc?

Well Done to all the teams who took part, and especially well done to Jude and his team-Every post i have read talks about how well run the comp was.
Where were Carlsons?
Dickie is injured,I had a Judo grading and the rest of the team are preparing for Bristol.
It's a shame we weren't there to support the event and i'm sorry we didn't make it.We will be at the next EFN event, and try to get our 'No Gi' arses into gear for the next ADCC
Respect to all that took part

Did you pass the grading?
Simon Hayes
01-07-2008, 02:24 PM
It's an ongoing grading-i have to collect 100 points for my second Dan-
And i get 10 points for each 1st Dan i can beat by ippon.
Or,if i can ippon two 1st Dan's at a grading i qualify for a line up,which means they line up 3 1st Dan's in front of me and i have to ippon them all
one by one with no rest.
The problem is,that to run a 'line up' there must be 6x 1st DAN'S at the grading, and there has only been that many at one grading so far.
Basically,i have 40 points so far,i have qualified for 2 line ups-
In the first i got ipponed,so lost my line up.
In the second, there weren't enough people for the line up despite my qualification.
And at the grading this weekend i fought like a bag of shite and didn't qualify for a line up.
It's all good fun though!
*Ippon is a throw where your opponent lands squarely on his back,a submission or a 25 second hold down (squarely on back).
Anyway- i wish i'd gone to ADCC now!!

Stick at it - taking down 10 first Dans, by line up or accumulation is a hell of an acheivement

Thanks J Sho.
armbar_city All the MMA classes contain no-gi grappling and this is where all the guys train. The class is on every day at various times. Also the freestyle wrestling classes are very useful tro improve your game.
Hey Simon hope you get the dan grade soon. Comp wasn't the same without you guys.
