Had grumbling pain for about 12 months then one night in a horse stance stretch had sudden pain and couldnt stand.
Physio treatment, they said they werent sure if it was hamstring or aductor as it was borderline between the 2 and the pain was over a larger area. Had treatment (Ultrsound and friction massage and rehab exercises afterwards).
Settle for a few months and has come back again for no obvious reason.
Got to start the process again going to gp tomorrow to try get physio or consultant.
It is really high up on the back/inside of the leg right up to the butt hole, not fucking pleasant. Cant put weight on the single leg. Pissed off!
Anyone had or heard anything similar?
Caged Steel - Not an expert on these type of injuries but can speak from personal experience.....
I've had dodgy hamstrings for years - get very tight, go through periods of constant niggling pain/pulls, and every so often, really pull where it prevents me from anything at all until it heals. Affects both hamstring, and similar to you, right up into glutes, and even lower/mid back.
Now - tight hamstrings can be caused by problems with your back (and vice versa). I went to see a Chiropractor for a period of a few months (twice a week to begin with, then to once a week, every 2 weeks etc), and this treatment totally fixed my hamstrings.
Basis of Chropractic is to make spinal adjustments (in essence to re-align the spine to how it should be). If the spine is not in correct alignment, then it reduces the bodies ability to sort out problems itself (theory is that the spine is the key to the nervous system performing as it should).
As I said, i'm no expert, but my issues seemed very similar to yours and chiropractic worked for me. I know people who have been where the treatment didn't seem to work so well for them. And it also helps to find a chiropractor who comes recommended......
I am again having the same problems - the chiropractor I used has moved back to Australia, so I used his replacement a few weeks back. He hardly made any adjustments, and totally different ones to what had been working so well for me. My lower back is once again very stiff, and problems with my hamstrings have begun again, first of all getting very tight, and now starting to pull regularly. I will be finding another chiropractor to use and hopefully will resolve my problems.....

SJRM that is very interesteing thanks, I do have problems with my lower back also. The SI joints both sides but the leg problem side affects my leg occasionally causing sciatic pain also.
The hamstring propblem has been brewing for the last 18 months. The lower back stiffness and pains have been there for years.
I have just been referred this morning by my gp to a physio section in the health centre, they can refer you to a specialist or for a scan etc.
Thanks for your info and advice, I hope to get somewhere with this, if not I think I might take your advice
Good luck with yours
No Probs mate. Just a point to note, a physio will very rarely (if ever) recommend a chiropractor. The two practices are pretty much at odds with each other (physio will treat an ailment ie pulled hamstring, chiropractor will enable spine/nervous system to function properly, in turn allowing the body to sort out problems itself).
People can be skeptical of Chiropractic, as they will often prescribe coming back to them on a regular basis - obviously providing them with a regular income! A physio will aim to sort a problem, and then you don't need repeat visits.
But yeah - go down the conventional/physio route and hopefully that will work for you. If not, look into chiropractic (and other alternative treatments - apparently acupuncture can help with many ailments as well). Good luck in getting it sorted :)

I've had issues with lower back and the tightest hamstrings evewr for years. Went to chyro and sorted iout my locked SI joijs and lower back issues. I'm currently streatching and doing some yoga/pilates type streatches every day. much, much better. I'm due a visit to the chysos but it's so bloody expensive.
How often do you go wagon?? I'm at the stage where I only need to go every 10 weeks to keep everything in check. £27 quid for what is literlally a 5 or 10 min treatment is not cheap, only works out to £140 over a year which is well worth it if it keeps my back working :D

£27 must be the universal price then. Unless you go to the one Treorchy in the Rhondda Valley too!! I had to go quite a bit in the beggining and shell out a lot of bucks. I've been in hospital so haven't been for a while.
I'm skint at the moment so resisting making the appointment.
I'm trying to see if my Bupa healthcare in work will cover it but I need tp check details.
lol nah not the same one! but yeah 27 quid seems to be about standard. You're right, was expensive to start with as I was going twice a week for the first 3 weeks, so probably sepnt about 400 quid in the first 6 months of treatment.....
