One of my students and a very good friend of mine Paul Gilligan was fatally stabbed last night in Bolton town centre, in the neck and heart.

Thankfully, the offender was arrested and charged; Paul leaves a partner and 18 month old daughter behind and a huge gap in many people's lives, the guys at the club are devastated at the news, including myself, who should have been going for a pint with him this afternoon.

This weekend has seen over four stabbings in Bolton, when is this fuking spineless Govt going to do ANYTHING to stop knife crime.

God bless ya Gilly, top lad, top student and close friend, you're gonna be sorely missed.

Correct,

Sad sad news.

We need mandatory fixed 5 or 7 years sentences for carrying blades in public places, regardless of if they have been used or not, Build more prisons and simply lock them up

This is awful, the powers that be need to stop talking and act.

Mandatory 5 year sentence for anyone found carrying a weapon, that should stop the little cowardly pricks.

This is awful, RIP Paul, our thoughts are with the family & friends, until the bleeding heart liberals realise that the softly softly approach is not working, then we are not going to be able to do anything, as far as i am concerned, the moment someone picks up a knife and puts it in their pocket, they should lose all claims to their human rights

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I'm still in deep shock about all of this we should have been going boxing tonight, out with him yesterday as we did most Sundays and I'm never gonna see him again, it's fucking terrible for all concerned, family and friends have a large gap in their lives because of a fucking shit head coward thinking he's 'hard' and carries a knife, the lads been arrested and is well known in the area to many.

Politicians are full of shit, they said they'd get tough on knife crime when Stephen Lawrence was killed and nothing's improved in the UK, we've had 5 stabbings in Bolton this last week alone and back on the doors at the weekend we had fights and bottles flying etc and I'm thinking 'what kind of society are we living in??'

No one is doing anything to tackle these issues and until something drastic is done to help stop knife more and more good people are going to be taken away needlessly from loved ones.

Gilly is pictured next to me in the team photo.

I met Paul Gilligan only once, last week. I was watching my 7 yr old daughter on her second ever Thai Boxing lesson. Paul was another dad watching his kids. To be honest I didn’t even know his name until I read Sandy Holt’s post on Ax. We exchanged polite words as you do, just two dads watching, supporting and encouraging their kids to do something constructive and healthy. I’ll be back again next week to watch my daughter again. Paul’s kids will never have that again.

Fucking horrible.

Thoughts go out to his family. The fucking police and government are too busy stictching up innocent people putting all there man power into people they have personal issues with and ignoring the criminals carrying weapons out for a 'night out' or as a fashion accessory.

This country and its justice system is a joke but the only people laughing are the ones getting away with this behavious whilst the police are looking elsewhere.

RIP Gilly
Another devasted Family & Friends, I did not know him or even heard of Gilly until tonight, but, this along with all of the other mindless acts of violence should be stamped on sooner rather than later, it's an epidemic of sickness running through the minds of the youth of this Country, admittedly not all.
There can only be one reason to go out armed, if you got it you intend to use it, screw the softly softly approach, lock the bastards up for the max not the min, I have 23 & 22 year old children who like to go out & enjoy them selves at the weekend after a weeks work, could you imagine being woken in the small hours by the Police & given this news? I could'nt begin to.

Thanks again for the kind words of support, the families involved are aware of the sites on here, I'll be in the papers again tomorrow on my soap box lol, but seriously, pubs and clubs should have metal detectors like they have in courts and airports, it's not rocket science!!

I have ordered 1000 wrist bands which I know will go fast, will keep people posted.

The scumbag that did it has been charged with murder, goes to court in the morning and things will go from there, it's on Teletext.

Still in shock, took a class at Caged Steel tonight, had a great time, it was what Gilly would have enjoyed, I'm taking my students down to Pepper Alley tomorrow night to leave candles and pay their respects.

Cherish the times with your partners and families and kids, really sit back and think what you have got in life, because you only miss something when it's gone.

Most in Hudds do now or have the ones held by doormen.

EXACTLY!!!

it really does make you think whether you want to go on a night out or night. I love Bolton to go out, its is/was a great place to go. But this is just getting sick!

it has been getting worse and worse over the last few years, starting with more and more fights, then bottling's and now knifes!

But like everyone has said what the fuck will the government do? FUCK ALL!

Sorry to see the Very sad news Carl :(

Most in Hudds do now or have the ones held by doormen.

What about trains, buses, underground.. Hell even the job center. Not to mention random metal detector searches by police.

Like everyone has said, get caught with a blade - go to jail 5-10 years period.

The UK government is stripping away all our civil liberties one by one.. How about doing one that's remotely useful?
