I've got a 6 month contract in Manchester and wanted to use my spare time to try BJJ out. I've done no gi grappling, but wanted to improve my skills and thought BJJ might be worthwhile.
Would be nice to know a few gyms and who coaches/trains there
I don't actually own a gi though, are they expensive?

We train most nights and weekends, but depends where abouts in Manchester you are.
Contact me at jeetkunedo@ntlworld.com for more information.
Team Lagarto alos have a club in Eccles and there are numerous clubs in and around Manchester including Combat Base Bolton, SBG central manchester and many others who will no doubt post info on here for you.

I'm working in Stockport, which I think is south Manchester, however, I am staying at a company flat in Didsbury, hopefully not to far away.
I drive anyway, so happy to travel 30 mins or so.
I am a bit confused though Zippy, your email address suggests you do JKD, I am really after proper BJJ, rather than an MMA club. I am keen to get into something with a it of structure and would like to be learning under a genuine Brasilian black belt. Which of those clubs would fit the bill?

Don't forget Karl Tanswell/SBG as well (albeit not sure they do any gi BJJ).

Legarto...
Is this the place:
2nd Floor, Bridgewatermill, Legh St, Eccles, Manchester, M30 0UT
Tuesday 19:00 - 20:00
Saturday 10:00 - 11:00
Chief Instructor - Lucio 'Lagarto' Rodriguez
Anyone know if those sessions are still correct and costs, etc? Also, will I need a gi on the first lesson? If so, what's a good well priced gi?

Lagarto (World class Gracie Brara Black Belt) is due back and will be teaching at Eccles, I am only a purple belt so dont fit your requirements. There is Karl Tanswell and Steve Campbell, both black belts in the area
