the Throwdown ones are shite IMO.

I still have a pair of the Rogue's and they're doing the job for now.
Need to get a pair of the larger Thai pads though so I can really start blasting my kicks out.

So yeah, they do the job for competitions where they're required, or light sparring but go for thai style pads if you really want to unleash.

Fair comment.

I suppose it's all down to what sort of training you're doing.
For me, the big shins will be for isolation sparring where there isn't a huge amount of grappling.
If there's going to be more grappling and less stand up, then I'll go a little easier on the kicks and just wear the Rogues.

Hope that helps.

yer thats cool
did u go for a size down when u got ur rogues ??

I went for the size I thought I'd need, and they seem to fit me well.
They do turn ever so slightly though on occasion but that might be because I lost the draw string almost instantly!
They're still a bitch to get on and off though, so it's swings and roundabouts.

I'm 6ft1 and 77kg so make of that as you will! heh.

If you can, try both sizes on and see what fits best for you.

Whoops, forgot to mention that I wear a Large.
I think you might need an XL judging by the sizing guide but have a look for yourself.

Size guide here (http://www.mmauniverse.com/user_resources/sizing_charts/final_guides/shin_pads.htm)

The last Throwdown MMA shin pads were great I am also waiting for the new ones to come out.

I use Fairtex too they are pretty hard wearing, not tried any of the other brands.

I have worn all kinds of shorts for training from sprawls, fcf, tapout, warrior wear and honestly couldnt tell the difference in any of them.

Am I wierd ? To me its like comparing adidas trackies to nike ones or whatever, shorts are shorts to me and I dont even think about them when I'm training. I have never once stopped in the middle of a training session and thought ' jeez these shorts feel good ' or vice versa.

Strange.

I have also just realised that this thread is about shin pads.

I am a prize nob, however my comment regarding shorts still stands.
