View Full Version : Is this bad?
Is it bad that I think I may have fallen out with Training? I used to train seven days a week just for the fun of it, Then after two years i found it slipping to Four days then Two. And now i dread going to the gym after work? I love MMA, I really do. But has anyone else ever felt like that? What the hell do i do?
i have a fight in november

vary your training to make it more exciting? train with different people?
good luck with your fight.
Dreading going to the gym? If MMA aint fun anymore don't do it, give up and do something else. As for me, i'll never get bored of punching people in the face and strangling them.

Been there the last 6 months ... don't fight, take time off if you really want to keep doing it you'll come back to it feel fresh.
im not bored im frustrated. I get mad when i cant hurt the lads and the i cant find a girl to train with. I feel like i cant progress coz ill never be as strong as everyone else.

remeber what it was like at the begining where you were trying not to get mashed. then you got better and took it too them. try to inject the same amount of infusiasm into beating the lads, your state of mind obviously reflects how your training goes
i never thought of it like that.

ive been there for about 1 month...
i like fighting
i just dont like training...been locked inside getting hurt and smelling like a mixture of everyone in the room, its just crap
id rather climb trees aand skate and have the odd wresling macth with my freinds in my garden.
i feel doing this keeps me in quite good shape.

Are there any local judo or boxing clubs with useful lasses who could give you a workout ?

I think what you're feeling is very common.
Periodisation is a good idea... if you try to train in the same way, at the same intensity all year round you get burnt out pretty quickly. Regular changes in routine are crucial to keeping yourself fresh and motivated. Speak to your coach about the way you're feeling and see if he has any useful suggestions, or could help you to modify your training. Plan a training cycle for your fight, rather than just turning up to training. Then after your fight is over, take some time off to chill out before you start on the next one.
Don't let your expectations of yourself get you down... feel good about what you do well, and don't beat yourself up too much when something doesn't go right. If confidence and motivation are an issue in training, it might be helpful to speak to a sports psychologist.
The book Enhancing Recovery (http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=Qp-WkTxvlvIC&pg=PA219&lpg=PA219&dq=enhancing+recovery&source=web&ots=qGZGzTar6L&sig=vlKdTghshxdF7PGAs8Uk6IxmPpU&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=1&ct=result#PPP1,M1) is definitely worth a look if you're serious about your training.

Great tip on the book-cheers. Just ordered the book for the other half who is consistently overtraining. He hasn't lost any of his motivation but keeps picking up injuries and every bug going because he doesn't rest up enough no matter what Leigh or I tell him!

Yeah I have had bouts of feeling like this before.Thing is after a small time away you may actually roll better than before, training just pans out like that sometimes. When you dont feel like going just go ,you will probably be reminded how much you enjoy mma :)

We have been watching you. We see a great deal of potential.
You will not stop training under any circumstances.

You progress whether you physically train or not.
Just to hold the intent to express the verb to fight when its time to within set parameters is refining yourself anyway.
Already youve come this far , going through tough indefinately with no assurances that you'll make anything..... Youre going through :)
It cant rain everyday.

Maybe you're just not motivated? Take time off and have a look at everything you have done in training in the past. If theres nothing you would change, then thats a big problem. Variety keeps it exciting, mix it up a bit. Don't just give it up, unless you are happy with losing everything you have trained for over the last few years!
