i get to go to the gym lunch time. they have a stationary bike and no treadmill. what is the best method in terms of rest and excercise for simulating hill sprints.
what would a good programme be?
is it much less effective than hill sprints?
thanks in advance

leave gym, find hill, sprint up it. Why simulate hill sprints when you can just go and do them. If you can't find a hill, find some steps..... mutli storey car park or something

Ah. You want a convenient method of doing something like hill sprints? Have you considered Beijing 2008 on PSP.... you wouldn't even have to leave the office :)
Serriously. Do they have a rowing machine, I think they are much better than a bike. You can do 5 min rounds of flat out work, with a 1 min rest in between, perhaps even upping the resitance each round.

Try this with the rower if they have one http://www.efnsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=3089.0
if not find a space in the gym and do rosstraining/crossfit style intervals/tabata's etc

i hate sprints.. i do them 2 times a week.. just did them.. i do one flat on the beach, and one a hill.
Obviously holland is flat as fuck and no hills. But seek and you will find something.
I found a look out post over the park

It really doesn't matter, unless you want to improve performance in sprinting hills. Doing 10 x 30sec intervals on an incline of 12 won't translate to a different sport any better than 15 x 20 seconds on an incline of 9
Just find something difficult and do it alot :)
