View Full Version : Footwork drills / block drills & Kicking drills

I have obviously done a fair few the last 6 months, but am looking for some more.
I was wondering if anyone has any good drills they use to increase their leg speed? I know Tae Kwon Do guys have a lot of good ones, so maybe they could help out on this?
I'd really like drills for:
Thai style blocks (Knee to elbow)
Thanks in advance :)

I'm guessing it's just a case of drilling the moves over and over until it becomes ingrained in your muscle memory.
The more natural it feels, the quicker it'll get.
I'd love to hear if there's any specific drills that will help though..
I could do with increasing all of the above as well!

Obviously loads of skipping
Block leg, fire back kick same leg as soon as you land.
i have loads of line drills that helped me
side to side over the line, forward back ward, crosses, one leg, forwards, backwars.
All can be done skipping.
Or doing over a higher object when inproving.
A thai drill i hate to do, but its great
1 left kick, one right kick
untill 10 and back. best to do with a partner and holding a set of thai pads
as duchman said skipping is great, and is a great way to match both your hand to feet timing as well as general coordination, and teaches u to use less energy in your shuffle/movement about the ring..
i think u should isolate what technique u want to work on and practice it ie shadowboxing or sparring from both the defensive and offensive, and muscle memory if its a counter move, like checking the leg just do it 1000s of times, untiul its second nature.
