I have a few female entries so far but would really like to push the female division! If we can get all the girls out there who compete no-gi in one place, it would be great!!! If I have enough interest fora lighter category also, I will add one in. So please contact me if you are looking for a lighter division either by PM, tel on 07870 976601 or email: Serena@SASPromotions.co.uk

Obviously I won't be able to compete myself which will be a massive disappointment if the division pans out but getting a popular place for girls to enter would be fantastic :)

I'd love to join in but quite frankly I am still in the 'rubbish novice' category. Good luck with the comp though, I prmoise I will come to watch.
I call for Ring Boys though!

Anything up to the day but on the day goes up to £35 :) There are only 16 spaces per catagory but I can't see that being a problem for the womens divisions yet.

Me too :D I reckon that should be a new category, we have a mat over in the corner/another room so we can grapple away without anyone having to watch our "rubbish noviceness" :D

Just get in there and give it a try. If you wait until you feel ready, you will never compete. You don't often get hurt grappling, so just give it a shot.

If you are going to get female MMA/Grappling to grow, girls have got to do themselves a favour and actually enter these tournaments!!!

No seriously, my total moves under pressure number about 2 (arm bar and traingle choke) and my shrimping still stinks like a week old prawn!! I really am in the "rubbish novice" division

I appreciate what you are saying you can't wait to be a ju jitsu black belt to get on the mat but I'm a kickboxer and my ground work is just getting off the ground so to speak.

However, it was an awesome event and WELL DONE SARA who as she was the only girl in the comp went up against one of the boys and did really well.

We need more girl next time, Serena and I were seriously outnumbered in sweaty men in tight shorts on the day. Surely some more girls want a piece of that???:D

hi guys, kinda new on here...

I see it as a bit of a vicious circle at the minute as there are not enough girls to get decent weight categories, which I think that can put some girls off as they are in quite an open category. I guess the more girls in, the easier this will get.

Maybe someone could run a womens open mat so all the girls can get together and have a roll first, get to know others on the circuit and actually see how many of us there are out there...:)

I'm definitely going to enter a grappling comp. I have done stand up for longer than grappling so just need to improve my skills a little then will go for it :)

Grappling with guys is a great way forward as it makes you stonger and quicker , this is not a sexual joke as i belive most women are more flexible than most blokes but lack strenth.

Harley

totally is, and I'm sure most of the girls on here train with just blokes anyway due to the low numbers of girls training.

I really hope we can make the women's division in the tournament one worth competing at! It was soooooo great that Sara turned up and competed in the mens division, massive well done to her for that!!! I know she's interested in competing again so come on girls, lets make this the promotion where all women come to compete. I really think it doesn't matter how good you are, its only fun and experience at the end of the day and the more we have, the more categories we can introduce.

I only ever grapple with men, no other womenz at my club. Would be strange training with one!

The nice thing is they usually smell pretty which makes a plesant change from the boys. No girls in my classes either most of the time.

You know what I mean. Most girls I know that grapple and do kick boxing shower before training as well as after and use things like body lotion as well as deodorant. It makes them smell nice. Maybe I should have used nice. Never really liked nice as a word....bit kind of something and nothing.

Anyway-my point was this means they smell better than the guys who are mostly (but not always) considered enough to freshen up their pits before they hit the mat.

showering directly before training increases risk of catching a skin infection

Don't you mean shaving? or is that your excuse not to shower Dave?

I'd much prefer to smell of daisies and buttercups than BO anytime...

no, i mean showering, as it opens up your pores and strips your bodies natural flora. (i'm talking right before training, not like in the morning when you train at night). shaving is even worse.

and its david :)

I'm afraid there is no convincing me that I should turn up all hot and covered in sweaty bacteria. I'll settle for a hot bath before training and a hot shower afterwards thank you although I'm sure as a man of infinite wisdom and appearing to have good personal hygeine you are probably right:D
