I've been intrigued by this for a while, there have been a number of fighters mentioned who forum members feel are the best pound for pound.....George St.Pierre, BJ Penn, Anderson Silva, Fedor etc.

I'd be intrigued to learn why people think the fighters mentioned, in addition to any they care to mention, are the best pound for pound on an international level??

i personaly think bj penn is the best pound for pound becuase i think his skill set is way above anyone elses, the only reason a heavyweight would beat him is simply because of the weight factor. im certain that is the reason for p4p in the first place. i also think bj could beat most hw anyway, same with anderson silva. its between them 2 for me

all of the above.... i think if Fedor was a lightweight hed b the best lightweight in the world, but the same goes for BJ Penn if he was a Heavyweight..

I think
BJ Penn is the most naturally talented..
G.S.P is a natural Athlete, great at what ever sport he decided to do..
Anderson Silva has the best skill set..
and
Fedor is just a double HARD BAST@%D!!

Me thinks BJ would beat Fedor to a pulp if fedor was same weight, skill level is far to good for anyone out there maybe the spider ould give him a run for his money though!!!!!!!!!

Because there's noone that's very well-rounded in the HW division.

If BJ Penn had stayed at lightweight and fit for his full career he would not have probably been beat..............

Fedor is awesome at heavyweight and I am a fan but when BJ puts his mind to it he would cause alot of heavyweights problems at the weight he is now.

If fedor was a lightweight I dont think he'd have the skills to beat alot of WW weights nevermind heavyweights...............

BJ Penn - pound for pound fighter purely because he has used his skill set at different weights - that is the visual evidence for pound4pound fighting.
The same for A.Silva - moving up/moving down in weight - it shows that you use all you have.

For me; a p4p fighter is somebody who relies on his skill set and not his weight to win their fights, so that, no matter what weight they are at, they would have success. This is why I find Fedor a pound for pound fighter, because he is very light in the heavyweight division and has used his skills and technique, perhaps beyond his weight factor as he is usually the lighter fighter.

I'm just reeling off the top of my head though.

im split between Penn and Silva.. purley because they are constantly fighting, and schooling top comp and not in one org either...

Fedor, as good as he is, hasnt had a decent opponent, bar Sylvia, for 3 years.. to me, he fell off the top spot, and now needs to prove it again.. a 60 sec win over siylvia dont prove he is the best p4p, it just proves he beat sylvia in 60 seconds...

people who want to hang on to that idea, of thats how it works.. it doesnt.
1 win against a top 10 fighter in 3 years, and ducking the fight against Randy many times, doenst make you number one. ducking the fight makes you a pussy
