It would be good to have a competitor attendance breakdown so win ratios could be worked out. For example if RGA sent 5 guys and got 50 points and PB sent 20 and got 50 points, then the RGA achievement would be more impressive. It just seems to be such a wide disparity between the winners and the rest, Im just interested in dynamics.

Well done to all competitors and of course to the organisers.

Perhaps, but at the end of the day that is how the points are determined for all the major international comps too.

Based on the competitors list, #'s of entrants were roughly:

CGJJ 119
RGA 51
CheckMat 40
GB Braulio 25
Pedro Bessa 20
Marc Walder JJ 11

I think some teams have more fighters
and others have more hobbiest's.
There is room in the sport for both and there's
nothing wrong with not wanting to compete.

I used to think team scores should consider number of entrants but I've changed my mind.

Total team score encourages people to compete and support their academy. Also, you definitely don't want people thinking "If I enter and I don't medal I am bringing down the team score".

Too many variables to make any valid comparisons really, some academies may only have sent fighters with a chance of winning, others may have encouraged everyone to compete including novices. The only valid comparison is to look at total team points, as has been the case in every competition I've ever competed in.

Potentially you could argue that the biggest divisions would be dominated by the best academies, if you look at the winners of the Gi prizes you will find there is a similar picture to the overall results.

At the end of the day the amount of soldiers you can bring to the field will make a difference in battle and it is correct that should be represented by the results.

If you add the competitors from 2nd 3rd and 4th place teams it's close to the Carlson total and guess what, Carlson Team would still win.
