View Full Version : Sad?
It gets to winter and I seem to lose all my energy ,feel crap and tired and fail to summon any energy to train. Seems to happen every year and it takes quite a while to get used to it and get rid of it.I also can't sleep properly which doesn't help.
I have started taking multi vits and reading about light boxes ,but are there any vitamins or supplements that may help me? I am trying to eat properly but just crave bad things.

Yeah it is, had this for a few weeks now. Cold doesn't really bother me, though right now I feel cold right to the core.

vitamin D is a good one for the winter and get out and get some real sunshine , light boxes may help but you need some proper light.
What about Vitamin B,would that help with energy etc?

yeah you need all of them but i fear with you its probably more physcological?? sunshine makes you feel good , its that simple.
Its odd as I actually quite like winter but it makes me feel quite rubbish. Winter = skiing holiday which is good.

I think I read something about sunbeds helping with this, but only certain types have the right type of UV...
Great ,I can cure my sad but get a nice dose of skin cancer :D I did use sun beds ,which was stupid of me and I have probably damaged my skin horribly. It'll be the vitamin D thing I think.

and your sad???
I'm going to Borovets........... the poor man's chamonix
Ahhh, cool. We got a good deal on accommodation and flights. It's my 7th year so I should be getting good now!
I think if I lived in the snow I would be happy enough!

Might be worth seeing your doctor and possibly getting some blood tests done just to check it's not something else going on. Thyroid problems, for example, are fairly unlikely, but should really be ruled out before you start looking for other things to try. They'll also be able to check for things like low Iron levels or vitamin B12.
Good thinking, need to get it sorted though as I hate it when I try and find excuses to not train and stay at home in my pyjamas.
I think work may be part of it too,I have recently taken on more responsibility so need to get my work/life balance sorted too.

Your condition may be caused by a lack of external Zeitgebers.
The below would sort it for less than £45.

I get this when the clocks go back. It fucks me up in summer when the clocks go forward, just ruins my rhythm completely. In winter it makes me feel really lethargic and can't be arsed doing anything for a couple of weeks, so I just have a bit of time off then get back to it

As mentioned before full spec lights, and also get hold of some small dosage Melotonin to take an hour before bed to reset your body clock. 1mg tablets work good for me
You can't get melatonin over here (uk) can you?

Ginko Biloba and St Johns Wort supplimentation might help? As might vitamin B12, D and C.
