a) cleans your guts out
b) keeps you regular
c) may help improve absorption of nutrients/food/supplements
d) guarantees a large daily intake of fibre.
e) bulk fibre may help you "feel fuller" handy if you are watching your weight.
It is mixed with water , 2 teaspoons of powder 3 times a day.
It contains the following.
Psyllium Husks,Prebiotics,Protease,Betaine HCI,Ginger Root,Papain,Peppermint leaf,Fennel Seed,Bromelain.
It is a very good mix of stuff which is aimed at improving your digestive system which is incredibly important for overall well being.
I am interested as well if people wish to take them alongside spirulina capsules and greens capsules, these are ideal supplements to take if you are watching what you eat.

Hi Detox, are there any papers in support of this product?
Not gonna get into 'only the big pharma' stuff or clinical studies (though the clinical tests would be good!), just wondering what research there is, what papers or anecdotal studies, what works better by putting together with other stuff etc.
Cheers,

As I know detox won't have the links to specific scientific articles (No offence detox) thought I'd provide them.
I agree that this product will more than likely perform claims a), b), d) and e), but this is mainly due to the dietary fibre that the husks provide. As for claim c), high dietary fibre will actually reduce the absorption of certain nutrients, for example iron.
I think we don't need any evidence for claims a) and b), although you might want to seek medical advice before taking such high fibre products if you have IBD.
Here's some studies for fibre intake and satiety (keeping you full) or weight loss. A simple pubmed search would have brought up loads of stuff. I would have thought this would have been something worth including in your book Smiler?

As for the claims about psyllium husks containing prebiotics and probiotics I'd be very interested to know which prebiotic they contain (guessing inulin) and how much per 100g, because I'm guessing once you break it down to how much you're actually taking in, it'll be very very small. I'd also be very surprised if there are any probiotics in this as probiotics are a live bacteria, which need certain conditions to survive. Needless to say dry psyllium husks don't provide this environment. Again if there are any probiotic bacteria there, they will be in such small amounts that they won't survive passing through the stomach.
Prebiotics I think are a very good product and have a good evidence base for improving immune function. See below Smiler for a review.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18814803?ordinalpos=3&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsP anel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum
So in summary, the fibre and prebiotics/ probiotics (if there's enough there) will be benificial, but why spend £8 for 180g psyllium husks when you can go to your local health food shop/ supermarket and by Jordans high fibre bran for £1 for 375g? Which will also contain more fibre per 100g. If you want pre/ probiotics then get some muller vitality, it has a good amount of prebiotic and contains enough probiotic bacteria so they'll actually survive your stomach and small intestine and enough will reach your large intestine to have a beneficial effect.
Hope that helps

Also, all the effects mentioned are not talking about "CUTTING" weight, they are for "LOSING" weight. Cutting is the weight you lose in the days before a weigh in, which can be regained (if done correctly) before fight time. Losing weight is caused by a reduction in body fat and muscle, that cannot be regained in the time between weigh in and fight.
It's important you don't get the terms mixed up IMO.

^^ Thanks for that mate , and thanks for all the PMs requesting freebies, will get them sorted on tuesday when im back from my international jet setting weekend ( I wish ).
And yes i did cock up putting cutting instead of losing.

True, although psyllium husks could arguably be useful as part of the cutting process too. Various weight cutting programs suggest ground flaxseeds or similar to ensure passage of crap from the bowels (in particular, it can shorten "transit time", which can be important in cutting as you want to get as much out as possible before you start getting dehydrated). Psyllium would have a similar effect.
I can't really comment on the various advantages or disadvantages of psyllium vs ground flaxseeds vs oat bran though.

To compare our product to oat bran is silly really there is no contest whatsoever , as with all our supplements it is the "concentration" of stuff that I am interested in , also with regards to cutting weight this product could actually be very useful as it dries you up , this may have disadvantages which is why I am so interested in people trialling it .
I am only interested in what works which is why I am sending all the people ( nine ) a good amount of the stuff along with instructions for consumption and also some work I have been looking at involving the "digestive cycle ".
THIS OFFER IS ON TIL 2PM TODAY AFTER THAT TIME NO MORE FREE STUFF, JUST PM ME YOUR ADDRESS BEFORE THEN AND I WILL "JUICE YOU UP "
PEACE

This is very true Rosi, as the guys I have worked on weight cuts both inside mma and other sports will tell you, I use something very similar. Without wanting to go into too much detail on a public forum I recommend something that I call "fibre loading", but I choose to use Jordans high fibre wheat bran (I've trialled various sources of fibre), but I have a specific protocol that I use for maximum effect. I personally wouldn't suggest oat bran (too many carbs).
I didn't really want to go through this in my origianl post as there was enough in there already and Detox wasn't acually talking about cutting weight in his original post (at least that's not what I took from it).

Yes it does, but this isn't a "typical" cereal. Its wheat bran, which is the outer layer of a wheat husk and is what's responsible for the in crease in fibre and the "whole wheat" in whole wheat bread, pasta etc. Its very good for you.
Fibre is a very important part of your diet and far too many people and athletes don't get nearly enough.

Interesting... one thing i've never considered is fibre intake in my diet, I do eat a fair bit of brown rice and have oats every morning mind. Would you consider the trade off in quality of wheat bran in the Jordans cereal for the amount of sugar in it worth it?

Yes because I like the taste ;)
It's OK as a treat or at specific times of the day.
Although like I said what I was talking about (the high fibre wheat bran) doesn't have any sugar in it and very little carbs. It's about 45% (by weight) fibre. IMO you should be getting at least 30g fibre a day.
