I am starting training again, going to start off by getting back into BJJ and doing some Muay Thai until I am fit and confident enough to put it all together.
I am not sure of the regulations concerning gloves in MMA though. Is it down to each promotor which gloves the competitors wear? Or is there a standard across the board?
I don't want to buy loads of different gloves so if I buy (for example) the Rogue Professional ones will this cover me for amateur MMA training and competition?
Appreciate any advice you guys and girls can offer.

most amateur/semi pro events want you to have mma sparring/bumper gloves and pro will want thypical 4oz mits, though some Am/Semi-pro events use these too.
I'd recommend these for sparring as they'll also be suitable for most events

and the fairtex ones on here for if you need pro gloves

I wouldn't waste your time buying fight gloves. Most shows want (or even insist that) you use theirs, so your probably aren't going to get much actual use out of them.
Go buy some MMA sparring gloves, fairtex, twins, etc are the best example....
... and I would advise never buying any Rogue gear. I've never seen any Rogue gear last very long

Especially the MMA sparring gloves, they don't seem to last more than a few sessions before the thumb bit tears

Unfortunately mate, they aren't. We've seen a fair few pairs come through the colosseum. Most have fallen apart after being used 3-4 times a week for sparring. I'm a bit suprised that anyone recommended them to you, we typically recommend Twins or Fairtex. You'll see that's what most people have got.
See how they last, they might have improved.

i was told to go for the fairtex or rogue ones, you're probably right but i had worn some of dannys fairtex ones and i didn't feel comfortable havin my thumbs strapped in. i didn't have a clue about which gloves were the best so i just bought those because ste had them. and the rogue ones make your hands go green after 20 mins of sparring duno what thats all about must just be the material.

No problem, there is nothing 'technically' wrong with them, they will do the job. They just have questionable quality. Ste's might of lasted a bit longer than normal, but he's also only using them 1-2 a week.
Don't worry about it..... they will be fine. But next time Fiartex or Twins :)
