There's a certain something about girls engaged in skilled one-to-one combat - especially when there are some sizzlers in there!

That's why we went along to witness females from Cornwall to Glasgow, and London to Bristol, travelling to Manchester for a chance to take part in a reality TV show.

The programme will feature a combined UK-US team of female mixed martial artists living together and traiRosi Sextonning to compete in Ultimate Fighting Combat, a fight style made popular by martial arts organisation the UFC.

Heading up the UK team will be Rosi Sexton (right), a top international fighter from Manchester.

The US team will be headed up by fight legend Tara LaRosa (below right). Cesar Gracie will oversee coaching of the UK and US teams, while scorcher Joanna Krupa will be hosting the programme.Tara LaRosa

Joanne Krupa is a poker-loving, bosom-baring American model, originally from Poland. She has starred in ER, Planet of the Apes and CSI, before presenting the show thought to be titled Ultimate Women Fighters!

How It Works

Two teams of eight girls will be selected to kick arse in this full-contact sport combining disciplines such as boxing, jiu-jitsu, muay thai and wrestling.

The girls attending the open tryouts ranged from seasoned professionals such as Lisa Higo to one girl who has only trained MMA for a week and had come to support a mate trying out. The US tryouts take place this week and taping is due to start mid January 2009.

So if you fancy watching a sexy battle royale, keep your eyes open! In the meantime, take a look at our pictures of the event tryouts to get a flavour!

The cagefilm videos do occasionally cut out, but if you refresh and let them load a little, it should work fine.

I'm really impressed by the standard, especially after listening to the interviews and hearing how long some of them have actually been doing it for.

Looking forward to watching this when it's aired.
Filmed in January, anyone know when it's going to be shown?
