View Full Version : Proper Muay Thai in Northampton

Hi, Im from Northampton and looking to join a Muay Thai club.
Im a reasonably fit 21 year old male, who has been interested in starting Thai boxing for a while. Ive done quite a bit of research, and know the basics on what goes on, and think I could enjoy it as a sport.
I go to the gym 3 times a week, weight training, and used to do karate for about 3 years when i was alot younger.
Obviously, I am a complete beginner, But im looking to join a club that teaches you proper Muay Thai, and not just a close form of kick boxing, if that makes sense.

Is there anywhere decent you recommend for a beginner?

If you drive get your self over to total dojo in milton keynes. IF not i think there is a gm called rough and ready or something like that.

I cant comment myself because i have never trained there but i have heard this is more of a fitness kickboxers bassed gym rather than a muay thai fighters gym so it really depends what your looking for

Keeping it in the Northampton area, are their any MMA organisations holding shows in or around Northampton, Kettering or MK areas? I'm still relatively new to the area and wouldn't mind checking out some shows if any are going down!

Lee Hasdell is putting on a show in MK soon. Not sure of the date yet but it'll prob be on the SSJ website soon if its not already. I think its called Combudo 2

BST in Brackmills Northampton would be the best place to go, it has beginner classes if you just want to train or advanced classes taught by Liam Robinson if you want to fight, plus they've got a full size cage and boxing ring for sparring... www.bstmma.com

Lee Hasdell also has a club in MK, SSJ Studio www.ssjdojo.co.uk. And there is a brilliant Am MMA show in Northampton on 26th Feb called MMA Battle Arena at Laba Ignote nightclub in St Peters square (next to Argos). Send me a private message if you'd like a ticket.

there is a couple in a few weeks in northampton mate u got the mma league which is on the 26th of feb and being held at bst in northampton, and also on the 26th there is mma battle arena at lava ignite in northampton im fighting at battle arena and have tickets if ur intrested let me know
