YOU KNOW THAT!!! ZT is buzzing right now and we are all really happy for John. It's a great feeling reading all the tabloids web articles too:

Daily Star (http://www.dailystar.co.uk/inthering/view/65794/John-is-living-UFC-fan-tasy/)

Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/boxingandmma/4241572/John-Hathaway-goes-from-fighting-for-a-try-to-trying-to-be-a-champion-fighter.html)

The Mirror (http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/more-sport/2009/01/13/ufc-exclusive-interview-john-hathaway-on-his-debut-against-thomas-the-tank-egan-at-ufc-93-115875-21038102/)

Interviewed John this week - was very impressed with the man.

There is a profile in Daily Telegraph newspaper today, a piece online which you mentioned and also a long blog on him.

I wish him well. He is a great advert for the sport of MMA.

Here is the blog - a longer version of the online piece.

John is a big welterweight by British standards, he's got the skills, gameplans, he listens intently to his corner and could easily be the next UFC star to come out of the UK.

What's more, he's a really nice bloke who thinks of himself as an athlete rather than a fighter. I've not doubt that he will represent the sport - and the UK scene - in the best possible light.

All the best of luck!!

I don't know all that much about Tom, apart from what I read in FO. Sounds like a dedicated lad with his head screwed on straight. If anyone's got any further info on him that would be much appreciated.

Let's hope both give an excellent account of themselves. I, for one, am really looking forward to this fight.

John did the press conference today. Amazing to see hi sitting next to Chris Lytle and Mark Coleman.

Both John and Tom are coming across really well:

that's who it is!!! Just looked him up on sherdog and have a new claim to fame, he slammed me and armbarred me in about 2 seconds in a gay no headshots mma fight about 3-4 yrs ago!! He'd been training a matter of weeks at the time having taught himself subs with a few mates - I seem to remember, but still cleaned up against a lot of ppl that day. I guess it comes pretty naturally to him! And yeah a great sportsman from what I remember.

He's a strong kickboxer and I think has been on the Irish kickboxing team a number of times, he's the youngest guy in the UFC and has a good Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach, he'll probably look to keep the fight standing.

John is definately one of the most exciting and well rounded fighters I've watched in the UK. Lets hope he is matched sensibily by the UFC and given time to develop and not rushed.

Good luck
