I've recently started splitting my lifting like this:

morning - warm up, deadlift, shoulder press, pushups.

evening - warm up, squats, lunges, bench.

Warm up is shadow boxing, lifting is pretty intense.

I was wondering if training in this way would give my metabolism a double
kick in the arse as opposed to just one session a day.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

Short answer is YES, through EPOC (afterburn)...

I would say you're screwed if your goals are strength gains... If you want to kick start Metabilism why the olympic lifts twice a day? I would have thought complex lifting and cardio is a better split?

If you have the time to do it it can be a pretty good option. With regards the programs theres a lot of pressing movements and very little pulling id add some pull ups and rows to keep the prog balanced.

All depends on what you want your lifting program to do.

I'm doing this every other day with cardio on the other days, mountain biking & hill walking. My aim at this time is fat loss & general fitness.

It feels good so far, It seems to take the edge off my appetite & make me drink more water too.

I've been looking at the stronglifts site mate, I'm weak as piss on pull ups so I've been avoiding them but maybe I should tough it out more.
