This happend several times to me now.

1 I show the movement to a pass
2 I put on the pressure.. The dude doesnt like it.. So i tell the class. Look unless he is going to tap from shoulder pressure on half guard. He will probaly let go of half guard a lot with his legs. so its easy to pass
3 I look down, and the dude is out..

Where are you applying the pressure??

My shoulder is usually on my opponents jaw forcing the head to that side, have never made anyone go to sleep.

That works for controlling body movement, but if you can get in underneath the jaw (cartoid artery, same as RNC) you can put people out/make them tap with it.

Do it as you do normally, then circle your shoulder down and in towards their neck to get it in tight.

I have never done it to someone but have felt myself getting fuzzy when it's happened to me. I usually try and break peeps teeth with it instead, think guys with skinnier shoulders get the pressure on the arteries.

I know the problem - we have a guy that has exactly the same problem at my club.

You both seem to be getting this move and another move mixed up - what you and he are administering is "The Shoulder of Mildly Annoying Discomfort".

This move almost never works and results in reversals and the opp regaining guard most of the time.

Do you grip the gi with your arm that encircles the head?

If you have big manly shoulders like me then the pressure is on the jaw.

Yes the arm that has control of the head grips the Gi as close to the armpit as possible, then i'll put pressure with my shoulder onto the side of the jaw turning the head away from me.

May have to pick Steves brain tonight!!

I have some realy odd with my shoulders. A realy weird range of motion, like a super shrug. Wich pretty much gives me loads of help with arm traingle or shoulder of justice.
But it hinders me strenght. im horrible week in them.

So i quess you have a point

I love it when people do it to me, especially big guys. If all there weight is in being put in their shoulder one quick whip up later and im gone baby......

well i dont know your skill level. So no disrespect. But there are people out there. With shoulder of justice pressure... more tight than i rear naked choke.

If they're putting all their weight into it they're doing it wrong, it should just be a squeeze (like a shrug, as Duchman said). Their body weight should still be on your chest keeping your shoulders flat.

since JK showed me this at a seminar my shoulder of injustice has been putting people to sleep nicely :D

skillset? I havent got one....

It might be the people who are doing it to me might be doing it as a form of stack rather than a specific move/sub

been put out with it twice once by tamar at out our gym when he was passing halfguard
second time was at a matt thorton semiranr and mcviegh put me out from side control

think john kav has putt mcveigh out will teachin it at a seminar before aswell
