More and more i see in bjj all different kinds of varation of splits, footlocks, and all kind of fancy locks.
But to me the ultimate goal is to take the back and go for a choke. if that does not work, go for armbars/kimuras. and way far that footlocks
pass guard - side mount - back - choke over half guard x guard guad, sweep, truck to calf lock.
it seems people seem to go to the fancy pants path way to fast.

Chokes for the win.
I used to go for leg locks alot of the time, but at the present time im working chokes into my game alot more and trying to force guys to give up the back.

I thought that was just for passing guard
Fancy moves are good but nothing beats getting on the back and hearing the gasps of air as you choke someone out

No, most of my main setups come from guard, but i alos like leg locks from side control too, when the guard tries to defend the mount.

My bread & butter is side control to DWL or Keylock of some kind. For some reason guys have a hard time getting me off when I'm in side control. Granted I am 6'1 235, but I do roll with guys bigger than me. I have a friend whos 190 and I can never keep him down.....
