Hi,

Check out Gordo half guard. Excellent 3 volume series of gi stuff.

All available in the place that does not exist.

This link isnt an instructional - its more of a thread/blog by a very well respected poster from Sherdog.

Its based on some of the works of a guy named Aesopian - I believe that he's a brown belt fom Florida way.

And everyone seems to have chipped in with their two penneth. Its quite indepth and theres loads of good stuff there.

The way I see half guard passing is that, assuming you have the right leg inside his half guard...

Find yourself with a right underhook, do the 'regular pass' - head on open side, pressure with head, raise hips up, butterfly hook left foot, shrug hips and bump with foot until knee is past opponents thighs then drive to mat.

Find yourself with a left underhook - do this pass: http://www.lockflow.com/article_view.php?id=2520 (highest % guard pass I have).

Find yourself with no underhooks/can't get underhooks - do the 'pressure pass' (too tough to explain without pics and stuff, but I think BJ teaches it on BJpenn.com...), basically smashing your opponent with your shoulder.

Half guard bottom game is obviously as varied - if not more so - than full guard. My personal preference is for lockdown and the general Bravo game though (although I learnt lockdown from a different route). I think parts of the Bravo game such as the stomp to butterfly are really overlooked in MMA as a means to get back to feet.

im amazed at how complex the half guard game can be..

and as u rightly stated..if not more complicated than full guard..
