I think you can just take a day off without the 6 days leading upto it. Im going to give it a try soon, but on the normal day drink fruit juices instead of eating fruit.

Or change your diet so you eat well all the time? Detoxing is nonsense.

It's not about 'eating healthy' for a day or two and then going back to sub standard diet. At least it shouldn't be.

I consider my diet fairly healthy and - whilst the term detox is potentially misleading - the notion of giving your digestive system a rest by eating only one food for a short time makes perfect sense to me.

Always leaves me feeling reknewed, fresh and with more energy.

my thoughts exactley....

my diet is very clean , its seriously good....

I am just looking to detox my kidneys and give them a clean out... I heard this was the best way to do it. At the moment I am just concentration on detoxing them...

Hi,

Detoxing works by not putting more cr*p in your system, and allowing your body to get rid of the rubbish so to speak...it does it quite nicely on its own.

While I agree that a good detox diet is nothing other than a lovely natural one, I have read quite alot of good science about intermittent fasting for example.

I think that it may be a better way to go, as if you do your fast for several days you will be seriously low in your nutrients...could leave you open to other problems?

Just a thought!

in physiological terms, 'cleaning the kidneys out' is balls.

In terms of eating a better diet for a couple of days, or a fruit fast, a lot of people feel better for it and as long as you don't expect it to cure cancer or something else like magic, no harm done.

Might be better off eating fruit rather than just the juice though

If your kidneys need help cleaning themselves out something is seriously wrong.. thats their job tbh

Some people get kidney stones and if you want to do your kidneys some good, simply keep hydrated so that your piss is clear. I drink fruit juices daily for the nutrients and my week day diet mainly consists of fish, meats and a LOT of vegetables which I absolutely love having grown up as a child with a vegetable garden. I don't eat bread, pasta etc. simply because I don't really feel like eating it. I just eat a lot of vegetables wether steamed, braised or curried and occasionally couscous and rice.

My problem is that I crave chocolate and ice cream and when I have money at the weekend I eat absolute crap like burger king, kebab which I love and other absolute bullshite. This makes me a fat prick who wishes that he had a fat prick but only has your average sized pecker.

What is the crap that is cleared out exactly that a normal healthy diet fails to allow?

Maybe i read this wrong but to me it doesnt really make sence.

I think the main reason is to give your digestive system a rest for a day... i think thats what you were trying to ask anyways?

A detox will assist the body to eliminate toxins from your body, this will in turn have a direct impact on your immune system and the bodies natural healing process, which will ultimately determine your long term health, vitality and longevity. A detox fruit flush is not an appropriate way to a full body detox

I am looking to give myself a good clean out, get any toxins out from my body , esp the kidneys...;) to also help my body function

A quoted on my link

"Have a look at what comes out and look for little green balls or blobs. They are usually light green to dark green and sometimes turquoise. Black stones may appear, but that is very rare in western countries. The stones may range from a thick liquid (if you’ve consumed a lot of apples or juice!) to the size of your thumb. The normal size is a little larger than a watermelon seed to the size of a small coin.

Usually you can see them easily. If you found a lot of stones (approx. ˝ cup or more if they were all in a blob), you should do the flush again in another two weeks.

errrgh that sounds rank! I dont want to shit out little green stones lol.

From what i remember there was quite a good explenation of it in 'the grapplers guide to sport nutrition' not sure though il have to look back over it.

Every time i read about it though, and from what you have just posted there, everyone seems to give different reasons for doing it.

What toxins though? Not ragging on it, I am just curious what the bad stuff and why you can only get rid of it by drinking apple juice, or some other detox method.

It didn't mate, sorry. Edited it to make a bit more sense, and also asked the question again.

I'm asking the same question as Brido here actually. Why is your body unable to deal with said "toxins" in regular dietary circumstances?

I use some supplements which are heavy on the kidneys
