ABDUL MOHAMED is refusing to give up on his UFC dream despite missing out an a place in The Ultimate Fighter reality television show.
Middlesbrough’s former Cage Rage lightweight champion impressed at auditions in London, making it as far as the interview stage.
But he never received a call for a spot on the show’s ninth season, which premieres on Virgin 1 this Sunday, April 5 at 11pm and sees fighters compete for a UFC contract.
To add to the disappointment, Mohamed saw two fighters who he has beaten and drawn with - Sunderland’s Ross Pearson and Londoner Andre Winner - make a British team who tackle their American rivals.

Anyone would think that the programme makers actually wanted the USA to win.
Or perhaps he lacked the personality to go with the skills. Don't forget, this isn't just about MMA... unfortunately.

I don't remember Mac Danzig being over-energetic on the show yet he was selected as one of the favourites to win......

Agree with all the above it was a travesty that Abdul didnt make the show, and although SDR mentions the personality has a part which it obv does, that should be no substitute for Abdul's talent and skills. He should be there.

Don't confused over energetic with personality. You don't have to be OTT to have personality, Macs extremely articulate, a proven fighter and interesting. I'm not saying Abdul isn't, I've never met or spoken to the guy. Don't forget it probably comes down to one persons interpretation of what makes good TV (Dana Whites).
It could be lots of things, personality, the fact that he's not born and bred british, the fact that he's a wrestler (maybe they wanted to play to the idea that the Brits are better strikers) or lots of other things
It's a shame for Abdul because he's a great fighter

Maybe its the fact that he didnt look very impressive in the grappling stage against Simon Trowel

Along with Jim Wallhead,Paul Daley and a few others i think they'll get their chances in the not too far away future.
How could Abdul be on a UK team, isn't he Afghan?
Good wrestler and fighter, I'm sure he'll get his shot.

You kiddin'? That's his main game.
I presume they're holding him back for the main show.

Don't be too quick to blame Dana White on this.

mac danzig had already fought in pride, i felt that that season was a big advert for danzig, he was meant to win and outclass everyone and make a new superstar out of him but it doesnt seem to have worked out

Nah for real, the lad he got paired with was just some skinny 70kg kid in a wrestling suit and he nearly had a gogoplatta on him. Abdul didnt really do much.
