Blitz have always being the best gloves for me, Ive had 2 pairs ( ive lost one) and now i hava a pair of Rogue which are no wear near as good as me blitz. The other lads who fight swear on Fairtex gloves

I got some fairtex ones, they are pretty tough., top quality. Get what you pay for I'm afraid.

fight gloves or sparring gloves?

Sparring gloves, then Twins, Fairtex or Sandy are all similar and excellent...

... if fight gloves, why bother? All shows supply gloves, some even insist on it. Owning a pair is pretty pointless

Go old school and get the Harbringers with bar on the palm

And then to show that you're truly old school put a post on here asking how you can remove the bar

Agree that the twins, fairtex and sandee sparring gloves are all great but it isn't the case that all shows supply fight gloves. The majority I have attended with fighters from my team or competed in myself, they've not provided them. This basically covers all the shows in the north and some more.

A lot of shows don't supply them, I've only maybe been on 1 or 2 that have and all the rest have meant I had to wear my own. But I agree a lot of people are too keen to buy the smaller gloves and fewer seem to have any sparring gloves which are a much better investment, I never really wear the smaller gloves when I'm training at all but the fairtex sparring gloves get loads of use.

The only issue I have with mine is that the velcro is crap and I have to tape them up all the time, I would probably buy a different brand next time just based on that.

My first shipment of 'Like 2 Fight' MMA gloves arrived on Thursday, will get pics up soon. Got some very good reviews from people at Cage Conflict about them last night though.

Well, I'm only basing this on the last 9 years of being involved in MMA and shows of just about all sizes in just about all areas of the UK, but I could be wrong

I would also suggest that if a show isn't providing fighters with gloves, then you should question if you should be fighting on such shitty shows!

.... oh, and I AM in the North.

Shows should definately provide fighters with glove, they should also be checking how fighters prepare there hands and have them signed off similar to boxing. Most shows dont even mention hand wrapping at rules meetings

At cage force in Japan an official sat and watched my corner man wrap my hands and signed them. In one of my recent fights i shook my opponents hands after the fight and realised he was wearing everlast gel wraps inder his fight glove.

waste of money if your not dude, useless for hitting pads or bags, definatley cant hit a training partner with them on.

im thinking of it in the future james but id need to stick in at the training which in all honesty i havnt been doing through various issues, im keen to get more into MMA once iv sorted stuff out and i assumed that id need a pair of sparring gloves to get use out of MMA training, i have thai gloves etc... but they will be useless for grappling aspects

there aint 1 grass roots show that i know of that provide gloves, so if starting out i would say mma gloves are essential

No, but seeing as I PERSONALLY provided about a dozen King of the Cage gloves for Ultimate Force a few years ago, I know they endeavour to provide gloves.

I know shows SHOULD probably provide them and check them thoroughly along with wraps, but in reality they don't. I wasn't trying to be funny but off the top of my head:
total combat
strike and submit
champions
pride and glory
fightzone
battleground
UF
10th legion
phoenix fights

are some of the shows i've been to in the past year in the north that don't provide gloves.

i've never been offered gloves in 7 fights, and i think i've fought on some of the better shows.
maybe they were available, but never offered?

fairtex sparring gloves are really good, and their fight gloves are the best i've tried too...

I bought some blitz gloves from the site, pretty good.

Dave Hirst

Shows I've fought on that didn't provide gloves...

Total Combat
Cage Kombat
Pride and Glory (they did years and years ago but not the last few ones I did)
Valhalla
Champions
Battleground

Shows that did provide gloves
QFC
UK1... and that was only because I didn't have any, I don't think they provided gloves for everyone.

Never had my wraps checked ever.

In an ideal world all the above would happen and there'd be random drug tests and comprehensive medicals and decent purses for everyone, but it's pretty much wishful thinking isn't it?

Im not a humb fan at all, esp when using the BJJ style cup grip I want as much direct contact as possible with my opponent, but everyone is different.

Here is a thread on cutting edge: http://www.cagewarriors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32220&highlight=cutting+edge

The reviews are not great for that sites service, although the gloves in question I think are pretty good.

Had 8 fights never been supplied with gloves and never been to a show to corner where any of our guys have been supplied with them either (exept NFL). Not arguing but thats just my experience.

Oh and i love throwdowns for fighting and sparring think there a great 'strikers glove', if i was a jits guy id go with Fairtex or Caged steel if i was on a tighter budget.

We supply all our fighters gloves and they always seem to be well excepted.
