i was wondering what sort of weight professional fighters walk around at- lightweights/ featherweights?
i walk used to be around 76 but now im steady at 73-74kg and have just moved into the pro ranks, but dont feel i have the size/weight at pro. when i did same day weigh ins i fought at lightweight and i am not sure whether to drop to 65kg (if i can make it) or to bulk up a bit n stay at lightweight.
if i make 65 and feel good ill do that probably, i know every one is different but what sort of weight are are most people in both divisions?
cheers

Im know 73K so will now be dropping to 65.5K. There are plenty of weight cut plans on here which are a good guide to follow, but best to do a test cut i.e. 2 weeks out diet to get walk round weight to within 2-3K 24hrs before weigh in, then cut the last bit by fluid loss before test weigh in, then do a training session next day to see how you recover and feel under pressure.

When you fought at 70 same day were you dieting to 70 or dehydrating yourself to lose the weight ? If you can diet comfortably to 70k then cutting to 65 shouldnt be TOO hard if you know what you're doing.

Have u tryed cutting weight in a sauna to see what weight u can get to. I helped a lad by doing the sweat suit and clothes in the sauna an he cut from 69 to 65.5 feather weight limit. But I think you will find most pros cut 3 to 4 kilos. So have a testcut a day before you train and then you can tell how much weight u can lose and then perform the next day.

I manage 3 featherweights, one walks around at 69kg, the other about 72-73kg and the 3rd at 76kg..
My lightweights walk around at 75kg and another at 80kg
hope this helps

just try it for a bit see how you feel, you'll get good practise in it too.

my cotch fights at feather and walks at 74kg so a big cut , i fight at 61kg i walk around at between 71 and 68kg .. i do bulk up and down but i lift heavy weights alot when not fighting. i think 5kg out from fight weight is ok max 8kg thats if you have 6weeks to cut down on weight...

Practice cuts should be a regular part of professional training, I reckon. Not that they're at all fun.
