I've been training for a few years now and really suffer from Delayed Onset Of Muscle Soreness. the day after training im not too bad but the next couple of days i just feel really uncomfortable with muscle soreness all over my body. because of this i end up missing training coz im too sore or sometimes ill miss
training so i don't get sore if you know what i mean.
ive spoken to a few people and even though they get a bit sore its not to the extent that i do.
i try to stretch a bit after training and even tried a cold bath the other day but didn't really help.
how do you guys cope with this? are there any supplements that can help?

try;

streching
contrast showers
light excersize

however you shouldnt be suffering from DOMS everytime you train?

^^all good ideas

I get sore every time I lift weights the day after. Sometimes real bad, I just suck it up and go training regardless.

before you go to whatever training class you do go to, stretch before hand for like 15mins its what I do, then the DOMS seems to go away, until im cold gain, which is usually about the time i get home.

The things mentioned so far will definitely help, supplements that i have found helped me are taurine and glutamine, they're pretty cheap from places like myprotein.co.uk

guess which one of the following reviews is from someone who works at myprotein.

Recovery XS (1800g) Reviews

By: Mr D. Reid
I`ve returned to purchasing something from MP as I saw that they had a new formula for their Post Workout Shake. I have tried WMS before and liked it. I currently buy another product that contains Hydro Whey so know that it has a bitter taste , I don`t have a problem there ! I bought 2 kg of Recovery XS and am not particularly impressed. It seems to be just lacking in something ? Colouring is a bit over the top !

Have to agree with previous review, the taste and texture is foul especially when compared to the old "recovery" formula (I bought strawberry too). Despite this I'm sure this formula will deliver but it is too early to comment on its effectiveness at the moment.

The product seems to be doing its job in terms of results. You do however have to put up with a horrible after taste. I tried mixing it with water which was disgusting, am now using milk which is just bearable. I am using Strawberry so will try a different flavour next time.

Bought 2kgs to try this out and I can promise you, it'll be the last 2kgs! Initially tried it with a rough measurement and was about sick with the horrible after taste so waited a few days before measuring out the correct amounts. Still the same! I'm sure the powder does work but for me, I'd actually say the taste was disgusting and I'll stick with buying everything individually! For your information, twas the strawberry one I tried! Try again MP!

I am so glad MP added this, saves buying glutamine, vit c,electrolytes, waxy maise starch, leucine, isolate protein....ALL IN! A* MP!!!

Hi,

DOMS isn't fully understood, so that makes it harder to solve...

It should pass with time...I train damn hard, but rarely get it...and if I do I get it on a change of routine, with the DOMS fading over a couple of weeks as I get used to it.

DOMS could be from the muscle tears themselves, or from the fluid that these tears create putting pressure on the nerve endings.

So, either don't break down the fibres in the first place, recover from the tears quicker, or release the fluid.

Recovery is rest and proper nutrition. (Remember supplements are just that, 'supplementary' to good nutrition)

Active recovery helps move the blood around and bring repair materials to the fibre whilst removing the waste. Foam rollers, hot and cold etc, do the same thing.

Stretching doesn't, as far as I know, have any effect on the DOMS, apart from assisting with active recovery. Perhaps Stapes or LewisJ has anything on the benefits of stretching on DOMS?

Hope this helps,

Smiler
