Hi all, i'm pretty new to martial arts in general. I've just started Muay thai and i'm loving it so far. I love watching MMA fights and my plan is to train to a competition level in Mauay thai and do some ring fights (eventually).
Then i plan to move onto MMA. But i'm wondering, once i've got to a decent level in muay thai what would be the best route to take? ie wrestling, brazilian jujitsu etc etc? I know i'm way way off at this point but just wanted to get an idea of what to do and make a ruff plan. Thanks!

Start doing wrestling, judo (but make sure it's a school which does a decent amount of groundwork) or BJJ now. Even just once a week if you can.
Grappling takes quite a long time to even get the basics down, so if you leave it until later you might find it quite frustrating.

As Rob says, try to find a decent grappling art school, Judo, wrestling or BJJ gi & No Gi... Yorkshire is full of great MMA orientated gyms so you should be able to find one close to you.

Yeah, get into the grappling now and try to learn both. It can be pretty disheartening if you are used to being one of the top guys at your Muay Thai club then you go to being the fodder at a BJJ club for a year or so. That's the voice of experience speaking.

Combat Base is a great bjj club just down the M62 from you in Pontefract.
Check out http://www.combatsport.co.uk/ for more details.
I'm sure a lot of people on here will speak up for the level of grappling there.
All the best getting started, Sam.
